ABOUT US

The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities.  We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better.  It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.

Why this role matters

The Salvation Army believes every person deserves dignity, respect, and the chance to rebuild their life with safety and stability. In Alice Springs, the Men’s Transitional Housing Program offers more than a roof — it provides a pathway forward for men navigating homelessness, trauma, and complex life challenges.

This role is an opportunity to walk alongside people at a pivotal moment in their lives. If you’re someone who finds purpose in helping others regain their footing and move toward long‑term wellbeing, this work will speak to you.

About the role

As a Case Manager, you’ll be part of a small, committed team supporting men living in transitional housing. Your days will be varied and meaningful — listening, guiding, advocating, and helping participants take practical steps toward stability and independence.

You’ll build genuine relationships, create case plans together with participants, and help them connect with services, community supports, and opportunities that strengthen their future. You’ll also work closely with the Team Leader and local agencies across the NT.

This is a full‑time, permanent role based in Alice Springs, with salary and conditions aligned to SCHADS Level 4.

How you will make an impact

  • Support participants to work toward their goals with compassion, structure, and encouragement.
  • Build trust through thoughtful intake conversations and ongoing assessment of needs and strengths.
  • Create case plans that reflect each person’s story, priorities, and hopes for the future.
  • Walk alongside participants as they attend appointments, access services, and reconnect with community.
  • Keep clear, respectful records that help ensure continuity of care.
  • Notice when circumstances shift and respond with flexibility and care.
  • Work in a culturally respectful way, especially when supporting Aboriginal men and those for whom English is not a first language.

What you will bring

  • Certificate IV in Community Services (or related qualification).
  • Experience supporting people in a social services environment.
  • Case management skills grounded in empathy, structure, and good judgement.
  • Confidence working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Understanding of local Aboriginal communities and culture.
  • An NT Driver’s Licence.

What we offer

Working in Alice Springs is deeply rewarding — and the organisation supports you with:

  • SCHADS Level 4 - Above Award conditions (up to 10%)
  • Remote Area Housing Benefit for eligible employees (up to $31,800 tax‑free).
  • Relocation assistance of up to $5,000 for eligible applicants.
  • Generous paid parental leave (12 weeks primary, 2 weeks secondary).
  • Purchased Leave Scheme (up to 8 weeks).
  • Five days paid leave each year to experience other programs or activities.
  • Flexible working arrangements.
  • Access to the Employee Assistance Program and wellbeing supports.
  • Ongoing training and development to help you grow in your role.
  • A career where your work genuinely changes lives in the NT.
