Celtic Horizons is a partnership between United Welsh Group and Mears Group PLC, delivering repairs, maintenance and improvement services to over 6,800 homes across South Wales.

The work we do helps keep homes safe, well maintained and in good condition for the people who live in them. Every day our teams are out in the community delivering a range of repairs, maintenance and planned improvement works across local housing.

This is practical, hands-on work that makes a real difference to residents and the communities we serve.

You will be part of the operational team working within the Celtic Horizons partnership, supporting United Welsh tenants across South Wales. Your contract will be issued under Celtic Horizons as part of the local partnership structure.

Our focus is on delivering a reliable, high-quality service and treating residents and their homes with care and respect.

About the Role:

As part of our dedicated team, you will help maintain and improve fire safety in our tenanted properties across South Wales. Your day-to-day work will play a key role in keeping these spaces safe, functional, and welcoming.

You will complete planned works; Fitting fire doors, composite door sets and timber doors sets, maintenance on fire doors, adjustments and repairs, carry out fire stopping and fire separation, pipe and cable entries.

All works will be planned by the planners and will pull through to your PDA where you will work through the job list.  

Key Criteria:

  • Relevant trade qualification in Carpentry and Joinery

  • Relevant experience in fitting of fire doors/repairs and knowledge of fire safety

  • To undertake all aspects of passive fire protection including timber fire door sets installation in line with current legislation

  • Undertake firestopping tasks as directed by FRA findings

  • Must have the ability to communicate with client’s representatives, tenants and other agencies as required

  • To be able to work effectively as part of a team to achieve targets set by management

  • Have a willingness to learn

  • Excellent time management

  • Understanding of Health and Safety

  • Have a flexible approach around client’s needs

  • Full driving licence

All our roles require candidates to have the entitlement to work within the UK, Mears does not currently offer visa sponsorship. 

To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21, with a licence held for over 3 months and no more than 9 penalty points

All roles are subject to enhanced DBS/security checks due to the public-facing nature of the role
