Job Summary: The Carpenter position is located in Facilities Management. The incumbent will construct, alter, install, repair and modify metal wall structures, metal doorframes and doors and metal window frames and windows. The incumbent reads and interprets shop drawings, blue prints, manufactures manuals and specifications. The Carpenter is skilled in the operation of general and precision carpentry and woodworking equipment.

Major Duties:

The Carpenter's duties will include, but not limited to: Perform Quarterly Fire and Smoke Doors Inspections, make a written report and request work orders for repair of all deficiencies found. Install sheetrock on metal stud walls and patch damaged areas on existing walls. Repair and install ceramic and mosaic tile on floor and walls. Repair wooden and metal furniture. Install and relocate modular furniture to existing walls and increase the strength of existing walls when necessary. Install signage, pictures, plaques, wall mounted medical devices for exam rooms, mailboxes, etc. Remove and install door locks, door closures, and security screens, glass in glass partitions and glass windows. Repair and locate leak on roofs of building. Install shingles and tiles by laying material in a straight line to ensure proper overlap and coverage. Apply asphalt around flashing and gravel guards to obtain proper seal. Install and repair suspension type acoustical ceiling and vinyl flooring. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7:00am - 3:30pm OR 7:00am - 4:00pm OR 7:30am - 4:00pm Position Description Title/PD#: Carpenter/PD50069A Physical Requirements: Strenuous physical exertion is sometimes required when handling heavy and bulky materials such as sheets of plywood, framing members and other building and construction materials Carpenter's use manual or portable tools for extended periods in uncomfortable positions. Work typically requires bending, stooping, crawling and climbing on ladders, scaffolding, and rooftops. Incumbent may lift and move materials up to 40 pounds, unassisted and occasionally lift or move heavier items with the assistance of lifting devices or other workers.
