The Career Coach provides coaching services to assist students in completing their Career Development Portfolio(CDP) and making informed academic and career decisions. Reports to the Director of Student Success and Retention Strategies and works collaboratively with Ivy+ Career Link, Advisors, Recruitment and Enrollment, K-14 Lead, and other faculty and staff to meet the career development needs of students and to meet or exceed campus metrics.

  • Assists undecided students in selecting an academic program of study by exploring career paths. Provides targeted 1:1 and group (workshop) coaching sessions designed to help students achieve their goals, including developing resumes, preparing for interviews, and strengthening job search readiness. Tracks and contributes to key performance measures including increasing the retention rate of students after meeting with a Coach and increasing the rate of completion of students after meeting with a Coach.
  • Partners with the Director of Student Success and Retention Strategy to build out campus strategy and plan to meet and exceed related College goals.
  • Partners with Ivy+ Career Link, recruiters, and other faculty/staff to integrate CDP concepts into pre-Ivy Tech and orientation experiences as needed.
  • Leads efforts to build awareness of career coaching opportunities, including building student CDPs, career exploration, job search tools, work-and-learn opportunities, and career placement. Collaborates with campus stakeholders to promote a career development culture. Works with campus faculty/staff to deliver presentations and staff events.
  • Develops and reports on lead indicators and results connected to CDP participation including frequency of coaching sessions, CDP milestone completion, and other pertinent data. Remains current on employment trends and aligns them to program opportunities. Develops strategies to track the impact of career coaching on student development and outcomes.
  • Oversees portals used by students related to career awareness, exploration, and student career case management.
  • Works with Ivy+ Career Link to support a consistent operational model for work-and-learn and other skill-based practicum experiences. Assists in connecting students with employer experiences, improving usage of internship tools, and expanding participation.
  • Develops a deep understanding and appreciation of student career coaching best practices, including core coaching competencies.
  • Participates in professional growth, development, and training programs related to career coaching.
  • Participates in weekly and monthly meetings as needed. Engages in annual summits, retreats, and project-based work.
  • Other duties logically associated with this position may be assigned. All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of FERPA, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Pay Range: $40,000- 45,000 per year

  •  A bachelor's degree is required with one (1) to three (3) years' related work experience OR an associate degree or industry related certification along with three (3) to four (4) years' related work experience.

  • A minimum of two (2) years of related experience in career development, counseling, and/or coaching, including case management and relationship management, is preferred.

  • Experience may include assessment, planning and goal setting, preparation, exploration, and identifying steps toward launch goals. Proficiency, familiarity, or certifications in standard career assessments such as Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Inventory, and Clifton Strengths preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to concurrently manage numerous tasks with competing priorities.

  • Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills required.

  • Must be able and willing to travel to and from campuses and professional development activities.
