The Role

Macquarie University Health is seeking an experienced and motivated Cardiac Data Nurse to oversee cardiac and cardiothoracic data management across MQ Health. Reporting to the Clinical Director, Cardiology, with a dotted-line report to the Outpatient Nursing Service Manager, you will play a critical part in ensuring the accuracy, completeness and timely submission of data to the Australasian Cardiac Outcomes Registry (ACOR), a mandatory requirement for maintaining accreditation as a Structural Heart provider.

You will manage key cardiac registries, support Structural Heart multidisciplinary coordination, liaise closely with clinicians, and contribute to reporting, compliance, and continuous improvement activities. This is a vital role that strengthens MQ Health’s clinical governance, reporting accuracy, and service quality as both the Structural Heart and Cardiothoracic programs continue to grow!

Key Accountabilities

Essential responsibilities include:

  • Oversee the daily management, quality and accuracy of the ACOR and cardiothoracic surgery databases.

  • Collect, verify and enter demographic and clinical data into relevant databases.

  • Attend Structural Heart MDT meetings and support coordination, including reviewing pre-procedural data and readiness.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for ACOR and manage all MUH registry submissions and information requests.

  • Perform regular data quality checks, audits, and monthly reporting within required timeframes.

  • Develop and maintain REDCap database collections in consultation with clinicians and MQ Health stakeholders.

  • Provide training and guidance to clinical and non-clinical staff on efficient and accurate data entry processes.

  • Identify and implement system efficiencies to enhance registry and workflow operations.

  • Support Structural Heart and Cardiothoracic CNCs with patient coordination across pre-admission, inpatient and post-discharge stages.
