We are seeking a talented individual to join our Captive team at Marsh. This role will be based in Hamilton. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office

Marsh Management Services is the exclusive captive solutions division of Marsh Inc., which includes providing advice, implementation, management and actuarial services.

A the Team Leader you will have overall responsibility of a team that is responsible for the management and accounting functions of a portfolio of clients that consists predominantly of commercial insurance entities, captives, segregated account companies, special purpose insurers, and reinsurance pools, as well as various client finance companies, investment partnerships and holding companies.

We will count on you to:

  • Have overall responsibility for the team’s revenue budget and accurate forecasting.

  • Manage the negotiation of management fees.

  • Ensure that invoicing is handled timely and that there are no ‘bad debts’.

  • Support and coach senior members within the team on specific issues including management fee renewals.

  • Partner with Captive Consulting team obtaining new and expanded business opportunities and strategic reviews.

  • Oversee new client implementation process.

  • Act as a member for the Bermuda senior management team (“BSMT”).

  • Guide and monitor progress of each team member’s training and development using the applicable development plan and training matrix.

  • Participate in year-end performance, year-end compensation, and promotion discussions.

  • Sustain overall quality of service and client input.

  • Act as the Captive consultant, including partnering on program design and insurance renewals.

  • Act as Director and/or Officer for clients.

  • Perform and execute review of financial statements.

  • Act as lead for specific projects.

  • Represent and promote Marsh at industry events and BMA regulatory seminars and briefings.

What you need to have:

  • An internationally recognized professional accounting designation, such as CA, ACCA, ACA or CPA or insurance and/or risk management qualification such as ACII, CPCU, CIRM.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ recent captive management experience.

  • Minimum of 10 years’ recent experience building relationships with customers in an Account Management and/or Client Services role.

  • Experience in financial reporting under GAAP and IFRS as well as the insurance regulatory environment.

  • Expert knowledge of investment and insurance accounting.

  • Excellent knowledge of local regulations and procedures.

  • Familiarity with captive policy structures.

  • Familiarity with captive tax matters.

  • An understanding and working knowledge of Insurance Linked Securities, Segregated Accounts and Protection and Indemnity Clubs.
