
Capital Projects Director
Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking a Capitals Project Director to join our team in Somerville, MA.
We are looking for a self-motivated and experienced Capital Projects Director to lead our project teams and oversee project-based construction assignments. The ideal candidate will be an adept in managing a variety of construction and/or development projects, enhancing operational efficiency, and driving project success from inception to completion. This role demands strategic planning skills, a strong sense of urgency, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders to maintain timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

This position reports to our Vice President of Construction.
Responsibilities:
- Establish, manage, and track detailed project budgets, ensuring financial accountability and alignment with project objectives.
- Develop and maintain both macro- and micro-level project schedules with a strong understanding of construction sequencing.
- Read and interpret drawings, construction plans, and technical details to guide project execution.
- Operate effectively in a Windows-based environment; utilize project scheduling software to manage timelines and deliverables.
- Establish, manage, and track detailed project budgets, ensuring financial accountability and alignment with project objectives.
- Oversee construction projects from conception through completion while monitoring and reporting on all levels of compliance.
- Lead and support all phases of design, construction, and development, including feasibility studies, site due diligence, entitlements, planning, zoning, permitting, architectural coordination, and construction management.
- Build, maintain, and manage relationships with third-party vendors and external partners.
- Coordinate and support preconstruction programming with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment and readiness.
- Develop comprehensive project scopes and objectives with input from all relevant internal and external stakeholders, ensuring technical feasibility.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with strong negotiation skills across all phases of the project.
- Manage, coordinate, and execute vendor procurement and administration, including purchase orders and contract oversight.
- Review and approve invoices and billing to ensure accuracy and compliance with project budgets.
- Maintain thorough and organized project documentation to ensure consistency and adherence to project requirements.
- De-escalate issues proactively and escalate when needed.
- Demonstrate strong emotional intelligence, leadership ability, and collaboration skills across teams.
- Foster a collaborative team environment that drives productivity, cohesion, and shared success.
- Adapt quickly to changing priorities while maintaining focus on overall project goals and timelines.
- Mentor and guide junior-level staff by providing leadership, direction, and developmental support.
Basic Requirements:
- 5-7+ years minimum experience in the construction management or related industry.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or related
- On-site field and diverse market experience is preferred.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Effective negotiation skills to support vendor management, contract discussions, and project alignment.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional teams, vendors, and external partners.
- Ability to travel within the US and Canada as needed to support project goals, including a minimum of 1–2 site visits per month.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly convey information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship
- Must have a reliable form of transportation
- Valid US drivers license.
