The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Capital Project Engineer you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Managing project timelines and budgets for assigned projects

• Successfully interact with multiple discipline teams including plant personnel, consultants and suppliers

• Specify equipment performance and design criteria

• Estimate capital equipment and installation costs

• Define and execute competitive bidding strategy

• Oversee plant equipment layout and design

• Coordinate construction activity

• Lead equipment commissioning

• Protect 3M intellectual property

• Communicate effectively to project team, facility staff and project owners / sponsors

• Gain understanding of applicable codes and guidelines to ensure designs meet standards

• Lead projects in PSM covered areas including chemical process design

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline (completed and verified prior to start)

• Five (5) years of project management/engineering experience in a private, public, government or military environment.

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering

• History of successful execution of projects including final performance in the factory

• Strong oral and written communication skills

• Ability to effectively present project plans and status to management

• Team player with the ability to positively contribute multidisciplinary environment

• Knowledge of Process Safety Management and Mechanical Integrity industry practices

Work location: Onsite: Cordova, IL.
Travel: May include up to 5% domestic/international

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $122,292 - $149,468, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
