The CAPEX Procurement Manager plays a strategic role in managing capital investments related to industrial equipment and expansion projects. As a procurement expert, this individual is responsible for defining purchasing strategies, negotiating major contracts, and collaborating closely with Engineering, Legal, and Operations teams.

This role acts as a leader in strategic category management, aligning procurement practices with the organization’s long-term objectives. The manager is actively involved in all phases of CAPEX project lifecycles—from planning and sourcing to contracting and performance monitoring.

    (Base salary will be determined based on academic background, experience, training, and job-related skills)

What this role involves:

In partnership with Engineering and Legal, define standard work methods and secure optimal agreements to maximize the value of Agropur’s capital expenditures. This foundational step supports strategic category management responsibilities.

  • Manage major purchases (approx. $200M/year) by establishing optimal sourcing strategies

  • Determine the best sourcing approach based on project type using Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) methodology

  • Develop and present CAPEX category strategies aligned with long-term business goals

  • Consolidate purchases across US and Canadian production sites to maximize volumes

  • Participate in key projects to redefine requirements (with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Operations)

  • Lead RFPs, select suppliers, negotiate and draft contracts

  • Increase contractual coverage and implement risk management strategies with relevant departments

  • Manage and develop relationships with key suppliers, applying best practices for fair and efficient information handling

  • Assess and negotiate master agreements with major suppliers to accelerate project execution while maintaining competitiveness and reducing risk

  • Contribute to planning and achieving at least 5% annual savings in the category

  • Establish KPIs and monitoring mechanisms for one or more categories

  • Ensure rigorous application of risk management and compliance standards in supplier contracts

  • Represent the Strategic Sourcing team in Engineering’s capital equipment budget and project meetings

  • Reduce company risk through contract negotiation and policy implementation

  • Ensure contingency plans are robust and projects remain on time and on budget

  • Identify and implement ways to eliminate unnecessary work with internal stakeholders

  • Drive continuous improvement of capital spend data and analytics

  • Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

  • Stop any unsafe acts observed and follow facility safety rules and procedures

  • Correct or report any safety hazards

  • Support safety policies and programs

What you need to join our team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or any relevant field (Business Administration, Law, etc.)

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in strategic category management within a large organization, including managing complex RFPs of at least $3M

  • Availability to travel across the US and Canada

  • Excellent command of French and English

  • Proven ability to drive organizational change through interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills

  • High-level leadership: strategic thinking, teamwork, relationship-building, and change management experience

  • Results-oriented, motivated to exceed goals and inspire others

  • Strong business acumen and understanding of current/future policies, trends, technologies, and market dynamics

  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines

  • Commitment to internal and external customer satisfaction

  • Decision-making based on analysis, experience, and judgment

  • Functional and technical knowledge with quick learning ability

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and domain-specific software
