POSITION OVERVIEW
The Capex and Fixed Assets Analyst is responsible for the full lifecycle of Fixed Asset and Project Accounting. This role involves determining appropriate GAAP actions for purchases, managing capital project budgets, and assisting in the preparation of general ledger inputs and financial statements.
This is an onsite position based in Holland, MI. It is not eligible for hybrid or remote work at this time.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Asset Lifecycle & GAAP Classification: Evaluate purchases to determine potential capitalization and proper GAAP classification for both constructed and purchased assets. Maintain accurate records, including assigning appropriate asset types and useful lives.
Capital Project Management: Manage accounting records for multiple areas, including Capital, Reimbursable expenses, R&D, and Customer-owned tooling. Track labor, materials, and overhead for capitalization.
Financial Forecasting & Analysis: Develop monthly forecasts for depreciation associated with Capex projects. Provide management with variance analysis of actual versus forecasted capital spend and insights into significant irregularities.
Audit & Internal Controls: Lead fixed asset tagging, physical auditing, and organization practices. Prepare annual work papers for external auditors and assist with year-end footnote disclosures.
Reconciliations: Prepare monthly account reconciliations for assigned accounts, ensuring all reconciling items are investigated and resolved.
Train, coach and develop new Capex and Fixed Asset team members.

HOW YOU’LL DO IT

Knowledge Development- Continuously develop knowledge of General Ledger accounting and 1099s to support Gentex business process and culture.

WHAT TO BRING
Associate’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
2+ years of experience in general accounting
Working knowledge of integrated ERP systems
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
WHAT WILL HELP
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field.
Accounts Payable experience
Experience working with Oracle
Strong customer service skills including effective conflict management, adaptability, attentiveness, and dependability.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to meet deadline-oriented tasks.
Ability to think critically and make decisions related to materiality and understanding of when to raise a concern. Judgment involved in determining the proper asset classifications has a direct impact on the financial statements of the Company.
Individual must be able to participate in, as well as lead cross-functional teams to help improve processes surrounding the project and fixed asset areas.
Working knowledge of procurement and payable processing using an integrated ERP system, Oracle preferred.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
