Canyon Activity Center - Cashier (FWS/NFWS)

Purpose within the Organization:

The purpose of this position is to assist the Food Services department by acting as a cashier for the Canyon activity center Store on 33rd Ave. This position will also help to develop and maintain excellent customer service and communication skills, as well as establish a safe and positive work environment.

Responsibilities Related to Purpose:

  • Provides attentive and responsive customer service.
  • May arrange merchandise to make attractive displays.
  • Records all sales, collects money, operates a cash register and follows all cash handling procedures as required.
  • Maintains required stock of products and may participate in ordering, inventory, and stocking activities.
  • Always be a team player and help out others where help is needed.

  • Complete daily tasks in a timely manner and other assigned duties as assigned.

  • Communicate all and any discrepancy if any.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work weekday mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Must have a Maricopa County Food Handler’s Card and Non-slip Shoes.
  • Prior Customer Service and/or Food Service experience a plus.
  • Must be able to handle the stress of meeting changing deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • Superior telephone skills.

  • Ability to quickly grasp and utilize new concepts and technology.

  • Outstanding ability to manage time and handle multiple tasks and priorities.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as a in a team environment.

  • Exceptional ability to organize information and pay attention to detail.

Education:

Grand Canyon University is committed to a student first policy.
Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility requirements to be considered for student employment:

  • Enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in a Bachelor’s program or Master’s program. 
  • Retain a 2.0 GPA as a Bachelor level student or a 3.0 GPA as a Master level student.
  • Maintain good financial and academic (SAP) standing with the University.

You may be subject to termination if you fall below the minimum requirements. 

 

Pay Rate: Minimum Wage 
Anticipated End Date: June 30, 2026
