ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Campus Safety
Implements and follows safety plans, emergency services policies, and provides logistical support to the School Resource Officer (SRO) and other staff or departments.
Participate in all necessary security inspections and safety training.
Ensure gates are locked/unlocked appropriately and monitor access for students, parents, guardians and approved campus visitors throughout the school day.
Student Supervision
Supervises students during breakfast, morning recess lunch and lunch recess.
Assists parents or guardians with drop-off and pick-up.
Assists the Food & Beverage (F&B) team with clean up, returning dishes and utensils to the kitchen area, and ensures all student items are collected when they return to the classroom or playground.
Developmental Supports
Encourages and promotes kindness, participation, fairness, and collaboration among students.
Partners with after-school staff to transition students from the school day to after school programming by escorting students to appropriate areas.
Communication
Ensures constant communication with front office staff, teachers, F&B, and the SRO to stay abreast of updates and alerts.
Immediately reports any accidents, emergencies, or concerns to the appropriate staff, SRO, or administrator.
Works with front desk staff to assist and guide visitors while on campus.
Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum five (5) years of previous work experience required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)
Some courses or training in early childhood development or elementary education preferred.
Experience working with children in a school environment required.
Must be willing and capable of learning the Serrano language.
Excellent organization, time management and follow-up skills; high sense of urgency; demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple projects concurrently; ability to work as a team is required.
Ability to communicate and write professionally and interact with diverse audiences with a welcoming, helpful, courteous, and professional demeanor is required.
Demonstrated commitment to student safety and a keen attention to detail to maintain campus safety is required.
Knowledge of and experience with Indian Tribes is preferred.
The ability to deal with confrontational situations and knowledge of student behavior and strategies to de-escalate situations and redirect students is required.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS
At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
Must obtain and maintain a Food Handler Card within 90 days of employment.
No Driving Responsibilities: Role does not require a driver’s license or insurance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ WORKING CONDITIONS – ENVIRONMENT

Primary work environment is in a climate-controlled office setting.
Work requires travel to attend meetings, trade shows, and conferences.
Incumbents may be required to work evening, weekend and holiday shifts.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
Strength sufficient to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects and/or move up to 40 pounds occasionally.
Physical activities that apply to the essential functions of the position are balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Hearing sufficient to hear conversational levels in person, via videoconference and over the telephone.
Speech sufficient to make oneself heard and understood in person, in front of groups, in meetings, via videoconference and over the telephone.
Visual acuity that meets the requirements of the position: The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading and visual inspection of employees, visitors or facility.
Mobility sufficient to safely move in an office environment, walk, stoop, bend and kneel, and enter, exit and operate a motor vehicle in the course of travel to promotional events, meetings, conferences, trade shows and San Manuel properties.
Endurance sufficient to sit, walk and stand for extended periods, and maintain efficiency throughout the entire work shift and during extended work hours.
The employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including secondhand smoke.
