Calypso Developer

Job Summary

Synechron is seeking an experienced Calypso Developer to lead the design, development, and implementation of Calypso-based solutions within financial services projects. The ideal candidate will possess deep domain knowledge of the Calypso platform, with strong technical expertise to deliver robust, scalable, and compliant trading and risk management systems. This role is critical to supporting the organization’s financial operations, enhancing system capabilities, and ensuring project success through disciplined execution and stakeholder collaboration.


Software Requirements

Required Skills:

  • Extensive experience with Calypso platform configurations and implementations

  • Strong understanding of Calypso modules such as Treasury, Capital Markets, and Risk Management

  • Proficiency in Calypso customization, workflows, and reporting

  • Experience with Calypso APIs, integration techniques, and scripting (e.g., Java, SQL)

  • Knowledge of databases (Oracle, SQL Server) and data management for Calypso solutions

  • Familiarity with SDLC processes and software development best practices


Preferred Skills:

  • Calypso certifications (e.g., Calypso Certified Developer/Business Analyst)

  • Knowledge of automation tools, deployment pipelines, and version control systems

  • Experience working within Agile/Scrum project environments

  • Familiarity with regulatory impacts on financial systems and compliance standards


Overall Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical development and customization of Calypso solutions to meet client specifications and project objectives

  • Collaborate with business analysts, project managers, and stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements

  • Design, configure, and test Calypso modules, workflows, and reports to optimize performance and usability

  • Support system integrations, data migration, and automation for Calypso solutions

  • Ensure project deliverables are aligned with scope, schedule, and quality standards

  • Develop detailed technical documentation, test cases, and deployment procedures

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members and support teams

  • Proactively identify areas for process improvement and implement best practices

  • Support compliance and security standards for financial trading and risk systems

  • Facilitate communication with clients and internal teams to keep projects on track and stakeholders informed


Technical Skills (By Category)

Programming & Scripting:

  • Essential: Java, SQL, PL/SQL, scripting (Shell, Bash)

  • Preferred: Python, automation scripting for deployment and testing


Databases & Data Management:

  • Experience working with Oracle, SQL Server, or equivalent relational databases in a financial environment


Integration & APIs:

  • Working knowledge of Calypso APIs and custom interfaces

  • Experience with data migration, real-time data feeds, and external system interfaces


Frameworks & Methodologies:

  • Familiarity with SDLC, Agile, and Scrum project management practices


Security & Compliance:

  • Understanding of access control, data encryption, and regulatory compliance standards relevant to financial systems


Experience Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience developing and implementing Calypso solutions in financial services environment

  • Proven track record leading full lifecycle Calypso projects including design, development, testing, and deployment

  • Hands-on experience with Calypso modules such as Treasury, Risk, and Capital Markets

  • Experience working closely with clients, gathering requirements, and delivering tailored solutions

  • Familiarity with project management, including planning, scheduling, and budgeting

  • Experience with automation, integration, and system optimization is advantageous


Day-to-Day Activities

  • Develop, customize, and support Calypso modules and workflows

  • Interact with business users and project teams to gather requirements and translate into technical solutions

  • Conduct system testing, troubleshoot issues, and optimize performance

  • Document technical specifications, system configurations, and process workflows

  • Support data migration, system integration, and deployment activities

  • Participate in SCRUM meetings, sprint planning, and project reviews

  • Provide expert technical support and training to users and support teams

  • Monitor system performance, ensure security compliance, and recommend improvements


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, or related field; relevant professional experience acceptable

  • Calypso certifications (e.g., Calypso Developer) are preferred

  • Extensive experience with financial trading, risk management, or treasury solutions using Calypso platform
