The CAD (Computer-Aided Dispatch) System Administrator is responsible for the administration, maintenance, security, and high availability of the organization's mission-critical Public Safety systems, including the Motorola PremierOne (P1) Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) platform. This role supports a 24/7/365 emergency communications environment and ensures system reliability, CJIS compliance, and operational continuity.
The position requires strong, hands-on experience in virtualized infrastructure, container platforms, database administration, and managing vendor-supported CAD systems within a high-availability environment.
Core Responsibilities & Qualifications:
Administer and support the Motorola PremierOne (P1 CAD) application environment.
Maintain 24/7 operational readiness for CAD, mobile, RMS interfaces, and supporting infrastructure.
Manage and support virtual infrastructure using VMware vSphere.
Administer containerized services running on Red Hat OpenShift.
Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning.
Coordinate with Motorola and third-party vendors for system upgrades, patches, and issue resolution.
Maintain high-availability configurations, failover clusters, and disaster recovery replication.
Administer and maintain backend databases supporting CAD operations.
Implement and maintain CJIS-compliant security controls.
Participate in on-call rotation for after-hours support.
Document system configurations, procedures, and change management activities.
Lead process improvement initiatives and perform root-cause analysis to enhance workflow efficiencies and system performance.
Manage and troubleshoot enterprise hardware and software, specifically Microsoft Windows Server, SQL Server, and public safety applications (CAD/Mobile).
Develop and execute customer operations policies while formulating long-term strategies for technical operational excellence.
Cultivate productive alliances with customers and end-users to ensure technical support is tailored to specific operational needs.
Proactively troubleshoot and resolve issues related to hardware, network, and third-party components, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal downtime.
Ideal Candidates:
The ideal candidate will have the following experience, qualifications, and location.
Reside in the Greater Plantation, FL area.
3+ years of hands-on experience supporting Motorola PremierOne (P1).
Familiarity with CAD integrations including Records Management Systems (RMS), Mobile Data Terminals (MDTs), 911 call handling systems, and GIS/mapping services.
Experience managing CAD application servers, middleware, and service layers.
Experience with Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle Database Administration.
Advanced experience administering Microsoft Windows Server and/or Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Strong troubleshooting skills in high-pressure environments.
Ability to support systems during active public safety incidents and severe weather events.
Effective communication with dispatch personnel, command staff, and vendors.
Strong documentation and change management discipline.
A proactive approach to risk mitigation and system resilience.
Understanding of CJIS Security Policy requirements.
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers.
Target Base Salary Range: $100,000-$110,000
Consistent with Motorola Solutions values and applicable law, we provide the following information to promote pay transparency and equity. Pay within this range varies and depends on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The actual offer will be based on the individual candidate.
Required Skills:
High School diploma, Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, and Public Safety experience.
5 years of experience supporting Mission-Critical Systems required.
