CAD DesignerPosition Overview
Create, maintain, and organize all 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings for parts made by the Chickamauga Machine Shop. Should assist with Dalton Shop drawings as needed.
Essential Duties:
Create 2D drawings from supplied physical part. Create 3D models from supplied physical part. Create shop drawings with accurate dimensions and tolerances for machinists and fabricators. Ensure all drawings and designs are of high quality and error free. Utilize measuring tools such as a tape measure, calipers, micrometers, ruler, etc. Able to consider and understand machining and fabrication methods at a basic level. Understand different material properties and best uses. Work at a consistent, steady pace. Communicate well with others. Collaborate closely with engineers, machinists, and fabricators. Address issues in designs, providing solutions and adjustments to ensure the parts can be made as intended. Willingness to continue to learn software updates and changes as needed. Organize and maintain part library in shared folder. Provide primary ownership of drawings to maintain integrity, track changes, and manage revisions.
Non-Essential Duties:
Assist/mentor other CAD Designer/Operator and pass along necessary knowledge. Travel to sites occasionally.
Education:
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Technical or Trade School Certificate or Associates degree in CAD design
Experience:
General computer experience required (Windows, Google and cloud based products)
Experience in 2D and 3D CAD Design
Prefer familiarity with part/component design
Prefer experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or Fusion
Physical Requirements:
Frequently required to reach, handle, stand, walk, sit, hear, and look at computer screens
Must frequently lift up to 10 lbs
Close vision is required

Training Requirements:
CAD certification/training/refreshers as needed
Certifications / Licenses:
Must have a valid state driver’s license and clean MVR
