Duties & Responsibilities:

Job Summary

The Buyer at Viavi Solutions, LLC will be responsible for the timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services necessary for the company's operations. This role involves managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.

Job Responsibilities

  • Execute purchase orders for a variety of materials, components, and services, ensuring adherence to specifications, quality standards, and delivery schedules.

  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on price, quality, delivery, and service.

  • Negotiate favorable terms, conditions, and pricing with suppliers to achieve cost savings and optimize value.

  • Monitor supplier performance, conduct regular reviews, and address any issues related to quality, delivery, or compliance.

  • Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., engineering, production, finance) to understand material requirements and ensure alignment with procurement strategies.

  • Manage inventory levels to minimize stockouts and excess inventory, utilizing demand planning and forecasting tools.

  • Resolve discrepancies with invoices, shipments, and returns in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Maintain accurate procurement records, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier information.

  • Stay informed of market trends, new products, and supplier capabilities to identify potential opportunities and risks.

  • Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies, ethical guidelines, and relevant regulations.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements:

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 0-3 years of experience in a purchasing or procurement role, preferably within a technology or manufacturing environment.

  • Proven negotiation skills and experience managing supplier relationships.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

  • Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel preferred

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Certification such as CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) is a plus.

  • Must be U.S. Persons as defined by ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. Person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. “Green Card Holder”), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
