The Buyer role at Rolls – Royce plays a key part in managing supplier relationships and ensuring the delivery of high- quality, cost effective materials and services to support our high -performing supply chain to support our world -class engineering programmes. We are seeking experienced professionals for Indirect Buyer roles as well as  Electrical and Mechanical Buyer positions, to contribute to our continued success and innovation .

What you will be doing

This is an exciting opportunity to join Roll-Royce in Derby as a Buyer within our Submarines business. In this role , you will have the opportunity to contribute to the development and execution of integrated commodity and category strategies supporting the delivery of critical supply chain strategies and drive operational excellence within a highly regulated and technically advanced environment. .

  • Cost Management : Work with suppliers to identify and deliver cost reduction opportunities in line with agreed contracts and relevant cost models.
  • Strategic Sourcing : Support the execution of sourcing and contract negotiations to maximise value across designated commodities and categories.
  • Processes and Procedures : Ensure compliance with company policies , processes and procedure. Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation in line with regulatory requirements..
  • Stakeholder Management : Nurture effective relationships with multiple stakeholders, both internal and external to the function in order to support functional priorities
  • Resource Management : Support the embedding and sustainment of a high performance culture within your team.
  • Programme management - You will have good planning and project management skills that are able to develop comprehensive workable solutions in complex situations and will support the deployment of risk management practices to assess, communicate and mitigate supply chain risks.
  • Supplier Code of Conduct :Responsible for understanding supplier obligations contained in the Global Supplier Code of Conduct and addressing any supplier compliance concerns through direct action or escalation. Responsible for ensuring that supplier compliance to the Global Supplier Code of Conduct is maintained.

Basic and preferred qualifications

  • BA degree or equivalent or significant industry experience.                 
  • Ideally MCIPs qualified or equivalent.                                                              
  • Global outlook and exposure to different challenges, cultures and ways of working.
  • Familiarity with purchasing and supply chain management preferred.              
  • Strong commercial acumen.                                        
  • Good planning / project management skills.

For more than 60 years Rolls-Royce Submarines has designed, supplied and supported the nuclear propulsion plant, providing power for all UK Royal Navy nuclear submarines.
