A Brief OverviewThe Buyer is responsible for the procurement of products related to his/her assigned area of responsibility, utilizing contracts established for the hospital system. Serves as the facilitator with user departments to gain consensus for commitment and standardization for contract compliance. What you will do- Authorizes and determines items to be purchased using established contracts. Provides for a consistent day to day process for all the procurement functions for the system.
- Confirms receipt of orders daily with vendors to ensure the accuracy and timely delivery of products ordered.
- Serves as the liaison between hospital Associates and suppliers to ensure product quality and supplier service are provided.
- Demonstrates effective customer service skills, promotes a positive work environment and contributes to the overall team effort of the department and the division.
- Monitors and provides daily productivity and quality indicators for all assigned purchasing processes. Maintains current files of all purchasing transactions.
- Performs other job functions as assigned or requested.
Education/Formal Training Requirements- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Bachelor's Degree
Work Experience Requirements- 1-3 years SAP purchasing or related
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Knowledge of standard software programs for word processing and spreadsheets are preferred.
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles as acquired through basic and intermediate accounting at the college level or in an accredited business school.
- Product knowledge as might be acquired with one to two years’ experience with the product area is preferred.
- Skill and proficiency in verbal and written communications.
- Exemplary telephone and customer service skills are required.
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
Supervision Provided by this Position- There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this job.
Physical Demands- The physical activities of this position may include climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Must have good balance and coordination.
- The physical requirements of this position are: light work - exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently.
- The Associate is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity, such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; or extensive reading.
- The conditions to which the Associate will be subject in this position: The Associate is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions; job functions are typically performed under conditions such as those found in general office or administrative work.
- Occasional travel to other facilities.
