Job Summary

Kairos Power is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented and mission-centered Buyer, who will work under the supervision of the Procurement Lead at our Manufacturing Campus in Albuquerque NM. The Buyer I position will work within the larger Supply Chain & Procurement (SCP) team supporting Kairos Power in achieving our mission of bringing a safe, clean and affordable energy to the world by assisting in various aspects of the procurement process, including sourcing and purchasing materials, negotiating contracts and managing supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent and timely customer service to internal customers in fulfilling the procurement process.
  • Manages supplier lead-times to ensure on-time delivery of goods and services to match required dates from internal stakeholders.
  • Create, issue and manage purchase orders and subcontracts to ensure satisfactory performance.
  • Embrace a proactive and solutions-oriented approach to overcome challenges and achieve procurement goals.
  • Maintain accurate records of all purchasing activities, including supplier performance data, NDAs, contract information, and pricing agreements.
  • Assist in the implementation of procurement strategies and initiatives.
  • Work closely with project teams, manufacturing and engineering to coordinate purchases, resolve issues, minimize schedule or execution risks, etc.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with reliable suppliers for specified supplies, while understanding the production processes and internal systems.
  • Purchase requirements of assigned materials at the lowest long-term cost for the quantity, quality and delivery required.
  • Negotiate the lowest possible long-term cost through competitive bidding and market research.
  • Perform duties in accordance to Kairos Power policies and procedures.
  • Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to address delays or discrepancies.
  • Assist with supplier onboarding and maintenance of supplier records.
  • Support inventory management efforts by coordinating purchases with demand forecasts and material planning teams.
  • Participate in audits, compliance reviews or documentation requests related to procurement activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Business or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • 1+ years of related experience in strategic sourcing, commodities and purchasing operations, preferably in a laboratory, manufacturing or technical environment.
  • Experience with ERP requisition and procurement systems.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office – Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to plan, organize and carry out assigned work with moderate supervision.
  • Ability to learn and apply procurement principles, policies, concepts and standards, and procedures, INCO Terms including price analysis, negotiations, ethics, terms and conditions and procurement law.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a high-volume environment.
  • Demonstrated initiative in identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and procurement practices.
  • Ability to interpret basic technical drawings, specifications or bills of material.
  • Attention to detail in reviewing purchase documents, pricing and contractual terms.
  • Ability to analyze basic cost and supplier performance data to support purchasing decisions.
  • Ability to work with highly collaborative team.
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently.
  • Prioritizes and ensures safety of oneself and others.
  • Ability to proactively collect, manage and transfer knowledge.
  • Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges and issues.

Physical Demands

  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.

The hourly range for this position is $27 to $31 for employees working onsite at our Alameda, CA headquarters. The range provided in this job posting represents the typical range or starting rate of candidates hired in California.
