Job Description

To operate across commodities characterised by a moderate level of complexity, supporting the execution of sourcing strategies through compliant transactional buying. The role focuses on identifying value-for-money solutions, applying approved sourcing approaches, and processing procurement activities through the appropriate channels in alignment with the Bank’s procurement framework, while working collaboratively with internal stakeholders and the Sourcing Team.
  • Understand business unit needs and requirements to ensure the correct procurement solution is identified.
  • Create, process, and manage purchase requisitions and purchase orders once specifications and supplier selections have been confirmed.
  • Access and review preferred supplier lists, assessing suppliers to determine the best value-for-money option.
  • Collaborate closely with the Sourcing Specialist during supplier engagements and negotiations.
  • Source uncatalogued items from the organisation’s preferred supplier list that meet business needs and follow the relevant RFQ process in line with procurement policy.
  • Assess purchase volumes and make recommendations regarding the cataloguing of items where they were not previously catalogued, supporting spend visibility and channel compliance, and informing the Sourcing Team accordingly.
  • Identify and assess potential cost savings through cost–benefit analysis, taking into account product specifications and overall value for money, and prepare detailed reports on sourcing levers contributing to organisational savings.
  • Engage with established suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for identified products, within delegated authority limits.
  • Play a supporting role to Sourcing Specialists where buying thresholds are exceeded, assisting in the execution and implementation of sourcing strategies.
  • Utilise spend and channel compliance frameworks to achieve targets set by the Sourcing Team, within defined thresholds.
  • Support contract compliance by ensuring that purchase transactions align with existing contract terms and escalating any exceptions.
  • Support internal and external stakeholders with system queries and system training.

  • Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, CIPS Level 6, or a related field.
  • 1–3 years’ experience in a procurement, buying, or administrative purchasing role.
  • Basic understanding of procurement processes, governance, and delegated authority frameworks.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously.
  • Good stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in ERP or procurement systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, or similar).
