Overview
The Business Systems Analyst V will support both the day‑to‑day stability of core lending applications and the implementation of a modern servicing platform that will shape the future of commercial lending operations. The role offers a rare blend of deep system ownership, enterprise‑scale project leadership, and hands‑on involvement in major modernization initiatives. Primary Responsibilities
Responsible for facilitating complex projects from proposal through post‑implementation. Participates in meetings with lines of business to identify requirements related to system functionality and end‑user experience, providing guidance and feedback to ensure solutions meet business needs. Serves as a project or functional lead to ensure test plans, specifications, and deliverables are completed on time and milestones are achieved. Expected to become a subject matter expert in assigned systems within 18 months.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Prepare detailed functional specifications, test plans, test cases, and execute testing activities for assigned initiatives.
- Conduct research and analysis of complex data to ensure functional designs are accurate and aligned to business objectives.
- Serve as a functional lead on complex projects, coordinating activities across business partners, technology teams, vendors, and testing groups.
- Facilitate and document project meetings; distribute materials and action items as needed.
- Partner with business clients to understand and document application changes driven by enterprise initiatives, regulatory or compliance requirements, contractual obligations, and ongoing business‑as‑usual maintenance.
- Participate in solution design discussions; document and deliver functional requirements that support internal and external customer needs.
- Provide project estimates, including timelines and phases, for large initiatives or assigned components.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and advisor regarding system impacts from enterprise‑wide initiatives such as acquisitions, product changes, or major enhancements.
- Collaborate with vendors and technical teams to gain a thorough understanding of system functionality and implementation considerations.
- May serve as Test Coordinator for large initiatives involving multiple applications.
- Participate in data mapping and integration efforts related to system enhancements, conversions, acquisitions, or regulatory initiatives.
- Monitor scope, functional specifications, and change requests to ensure adherence to business requirements, Corporate Technology standards, and regulatory obligations.
- Coordinate and manage post‑implementation activities, including issue resolution, stakeholder feedback, and completion of project debriefs.
- Identify and escalate risk‑related issues in alignment with the Company’s Risk Appetite and regulatory standards.
- Promote an inclusive environment that reflects the M&T Bank brand and supports a sense of belonging.
- Maintain internal control standards, including timely remediation of audit findings and regulatory items.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required
- Minimum of 6 years combined higher education and/or operational/business analytics experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Strong lateral thinking and problem‑solving capabilities
- Proficiency with personal computers and relevant software packages
- Ability to analyze issues, recommend solutions, and support resolution efforts
Education and Experience Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree
- Good understanding and prior experience with Commercial Lending applications (e.g., AFS Level III, Data Select CLCS, AFS Vision)
- Subject matter expertise in business processes with hands‑on experience supporting enterprise applications
- Advanced understanding of the applications supported, including interfacing and integrated systems
- Strong understanding of the Bank’s application framework
- Ability to participate effectively on Agile teams while also working independently
- Capability to manage multiple workstreams across complex initiatives
- Experience operating beyond day‑to‑day BAU work to support modernization, transformation, or strategic initiatives
- Familiarity with application development platforms, testing methodologies, and enterprise integration concepts
- Ability to present effectively to stakeholders and leadership at multiple levels
- Strong attention to detail; proactive and solution‑oriented mindset
- Experience supporting system conversions, acquisitions, or major platform implementations preferred
M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $85,800.00 - $143,000.00 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
