Manulife

Business Systems Analyst

Waterloo, Ontario Full time

Join our Insurance Technology Team!

We’re modernizing advisor- and client-facing platforms to deliver secure, scalable, and efficient digital experiences for our customers and business partners. In this role, you’ll help translate business needs into clear technical delivery—partnering closely with product, engineering, and architecture teams to support microservices that enable Insurance and Investment capabilities.

You’ll thrive here if you enjoy working across both modern cloud-native services and established systems, and you’re energized by solving problems collaboratively in an agile environment. You’ll have the support of a dynamic team that values shared ownership, practical delivery, and continuous improvement.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Participate in agile ceremonies and partner with stakeholders across the organization to understand objectives, clarify needs, and assess impacts to systems and users

  • Interpret high-level solution designs and help translate them into delivery-ready plans and timelines

  • Break down designs into clear technical user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation that guide engineering and testing

  • Coordinate and organize the delivery of stories and engineering tasks to support incremental, reliable releases

  • Collaborate with product managers, analysts, engineers, architects, and other team members to create and maintain delivery artifacts (e.g., user stories, approvals, test evidence, outcomes)

  • Support prioritization across multiple initiatives by helping teams align on what matters most and why

  • Perform functional testing, identify defects, and support re-testing to ensure quality outcomes

  • Partner with team members to analyze issues, identify root causes, and prevent recurrence

  • Identify opportunities to improve system effectiveness and streamline agile delivery practices

  • Build and maintain a clear, organized repository of system and delivery documentation

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Technical Analyst, Quality Analyst, Software Engineer, or similar role supporting technology delivery.

  • Strong analytical, conceptual, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to facilitate discussions across technical and non-technical stakeholders

  • Ability to balance business priorities with delivery complexity, risk, and implementation effort

  • Strong planning and organizational skills, including comfort supporting multiple initiatives in parallel

  • Experience working in an agile delivery environment

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new business processes, technologies, and tools

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent practical experience

  • Experience with tools such as JIRA and Confluence

  • Exposure to insurance, investment, or financial services platforms

  • Interest in mentoring, sharing knowledge, or helping improve team practices

Even if you don’t meet every qualification, we encourage you to apply. Many great candidates grow into a role through transferable skills and learning on the job.

When you join our team:

• We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you want.

• We’ll recognize and support you in a flexible environment where well-being and inclusion are more than just words.

• As part of our global team, we’ll support you in shaping the future you want to see
