Business Systems Analyst (Foreign Exchange/SWIFT)

The Payment Solutions Technology team provides business and technical systems solutions for multiple payment processes and Swift initiatives.  Millions of dollars are coming into this team every day and is vital to the organization where we are growing emphasis in Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications (SWIFT) and Foreign Exchange (FX) processing, and instant payments.  Within the technology environment, this team interacts with internal partners to evaluate, and process requests the ingoing and outgoing transfers of wire payments for domestic and international clients. This team also provides payments support and education for our internal customers. 

As the Business Systems Analyst, you have a specific and impactful function for our clients and UMB to ensure we are implementing payment systems and processing that improve our SWIFT, FX, and instant payment processing capabilities. You will have an opportunity to bring in the expertise and knowledge to grow our international payment strength throughout the technology team and UMB as a whole.  You will partner with the business unit stakeholders and operational staff to identify business systems solutions for changes to business processes, policies, and information systems in payments.  This is a subset of the overall responsibilities which will include multiple initiatives as assigned by IT leadership. 

This role is hybrid (Mon through Thu on-site / Fri remote) at the UMB Technology & Operations Center located in downtown Kansas City, MO.

How you’ll spend your time:

  • Document business requirements for payment and securities applications, focusing heavily on SWIFT/ISO, foreign exchange, and instant payment processing.
  • Partner with line of business to develop SWIFT/ISO strategy across payment rails.
  • Partner with operational services groups and vendors to design technical solutions to meet the business requirements.
  • Configure application-enabled systems for ISO/SWIFT messaging.
  • Construct test cases, develop test scripts and facilitate appropriate testing (unit, integration, system, QA, UAT).
  • Assist with end-user education and training, including LOB partners.
  • Serve as a coordinator/project manager for SWIFT/ISO and other payment initiatives, identifying tasks, preparation of estimates, and development of work plans.
  • Validate production implementations.
  • Problem and incident research and resolution in payments processing.
  • Collaborate with business units and operational BSA teams to establish priorities for resolution of multiple system problems and issues.
  • Participate in UMB Business and Technology Strategies to evaluate SWIFT/ISO technology opportunities to enhance UMB products and services.
  • Serve as system liaison between UMB users of business application systems and the operational service teams to both enhance and support the SWIFT and FX platforms.

We’re excited to talk if you have:

  • At least 5 years of SWIFT, ISO20022 and Foreign Exchange experience.
  • At least 7 years of payment or securities operations experience.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to build consensus across departments regarding complex solutions and/or issue resolution.
  • Clear oral, written, interpersonal, and presentation communication skills, expressing complex technical concepts in business terms.
  • Identify, develop and initiate innovations and solutions where precedents may not exist.
  • Work effectively on cross-functional project teams to solve problems and implement changes.
  • Willingness to lead other team members on managing and prioritizing work across the team.

Bonus Point if you have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Demonstrated strategic viewpoint, with a clear understanding of the UMB’s goals and objectives.
  • Understanding of application and database development concepts.
  • Thorough understanding of best practice business requirements and testing methodologies.
  • Project management experience.
  • A network of payment peers who you can collaborate.

Compensation Range:

$83,200.00 - $178,800.00

The posted compensation range on this listing represents UMB’s standard for this role, but the actual compensation may vary by geographic location, experience level, and other job-related factors.
