Business Systems Analyst – Associate

Position Summary 

We are seeking an experienced BSA Associate to join our team in support of athenaIT Sales. In this role, you will be pivotal in analyzing business processes and systems to support software development and implementation. Under the guidance of the product manager & senior analysts, they help define system requirements, document workflows, and ensure solutions align with business goals. 

 

This position requires close collaboration with athenahealth business partners, process owners, product and project managers, other analysts, and development teams. The focus is on processes and technologies that enhance business operations, ensuring the growth, stability, and security of our systems. 

 

The ideal candidate will have experience with cross-functional teams, a positive attitude, curiosity, and strong attention to detail. They should be highly analytical, with a proven ability to transform business requirements into effective system and process solutions that add value to athenahealth employees and customers. 

 

Key Responsibilities  

·       Collaboration with Product Management: Work closely with stakeholders and Product Managers to analyze, understand, and document requirements that enhance employee productivity and improve end-user effectiveness. Manage stakeholder expectations regarding scope, timelines, and deliverables. 

·       Requirements Gathering: Collect, analyze, and document both functional and technical requirements for new projects from the Product Manager, enhancements to existing solutions, and production issues. Assess current business processes to understand their impact and ensure that new solutions effectively address identified needs. 

·       Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation, including business requirements, use cases, process flows, and functional specifications. 

·       System Enhancements: Collaborate with the Product Manager to define and implement system enhancements that align with business goals. Recommend best practices and process improvements for scalability and efficiency. Proactively manage necessary upgrades and maintenance for existing applications. 

·       Technical Testing: Validate functionality developed and coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) in collaboration with our QA resource. 

·       Issue Resolution: Research production system issues and resolve user problems, escalating when necessary. 

·       Business Acumen - Exhibit strong business acumen and possess in-depth knowledge of our Sales Technology Stack applications. Leverage this expertise to support stakeholders effectively and drive informed decision-making. 

·       Solution Design: Collaborate with technical teams and product managers to design solutions that meet business needs and align with requirements. 

·       3rd Party Appexchange Technical Lead: Responsible for installing new appexchange managed packages, complete full configuration requirements, maintain routine package updates, maintain password update deadlines & tasks, and assist with troubleshooting issues submitted by stakeholders. 

 

·       Shift requirement: Evening IST shift to provide consistent overlap with EST mornings.  

·       Continuous Improvement Stay informed on technology trends and best practices. Identify process improvement opportunities and recommend solutions to enhance system efficiency, using data to monitor progress and guide prioritization. 

·       Data: Conduct data analysis, write queries, and develop reports. Assess stakeholder data needs and recommend optimal data sources. 

·       Scrum Master 

o   Lead scrum ceremonies 

o   Jira sprint & code freeze monitoring & status updates 

o   Building & maintaining Confluence documentation 

o   Release Notes draft – sent to Product Mgr for final reviews 

 

Typical Qualifications  

·       Experience: 2-4 years in a business analyst role and extensive Salesforce domain knowledge. 

·       Hands-On Experience: Practical experience with Sales Platforms/Applications is beneficial. 

·       Communication Skills: Strong written, verbal and presentation skills for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders. 

·       Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical and investigative skills, motivated to accomplish goals. 

·       Certifications: Achieve and maintain relevant Salesforce certifications as applicable. 

·       Familiarity with Tools: Proficient in tools such as Jira, Confluence, Sales Platforms/Applications, BitBucket, and Git. Experience in creating and executing unit, integration, and user acceptance test plans is preferred. 

·       Documentation: Strong ability to document user stories, data schemas, business processes, and data flow diagrams. 

·       Project Management Experience: Experience with both agile and waterfall project management methodologies is preferred. 

·       Compliance and Risk Management: Proven experience managing technology within a SOX and SOC1 environment. 

·       Business Operations Experience (Optional): Familiarity with business operations processes and practices is a plus. 

·       Prior Healthcare Experience (Optional): Previous experience in the healthcare industry is considered beneficial.
