Job Description
The Business Strategy Analyst supports the evaluation and development of new WGU Corp education and workforce solutions. This role focuses on assessing the financial, operational, and business model implications of strategic initiatives and policy priorities/positioning.
Primary Responsibilities
Model the financial, business model, and operational implications of strategic choices, policy changes, and new initiatives
Develop business cases for new market opportunities, including market sizing, cost structure, revenue models, and scalability
Build and maintain financial models to evaluate program viability and sustainability with some independence
Research and evaluate emerging education financing models (e.g., outcomes-based lending, lifelong learning accounts, pay for success, employer training incentives) to inform WGU’s strategic positioning and advocacy priorities
Assist in translation of policy and regulatory dynamics into actionable business insights
Partner cross-functionally (product, finance, academic, operations) to refine and test new models
Support pilot design, execution, and evaluation for initiatives outside of Labs
Prepare materials to support executive decision-making
Develop competitive analysis for current and new markets with limited supervision

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Analytical and structured problem-solving skills, with experience building financial models and business cases
Ability to evaluate trade-offs across financial, operational, policy, and strategic dimensions
Ability to synthesize complex data, research, and policy context into clear, actionable insights
Written and verbal communication skills, including developing executive-ready materials
Familiarity with higher education, workforce systems, and education financing models
Ability to translate policy and regulatory dynamics into business and operational implications
Collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to work across cross-functional teams in ambiguous, fast-paced environments
Ability to research and analyze competitive offers and positioning
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Public Policy, Education, or a related field
Experience
2–4 years of experience in strategy, consulting, finance, product, or policy roles
Experience in lieu of education
Equivalent relevant experience performing the essential functions of this job may substitute for education degree requirements. Generally, equivalent relevant experience is defined as 1 year of experience for 1 year of education and is the discretion of the hiring manager.

This position requires occasional travel of up to 20%, including required attendance at designated company summits (typically one to two per year).
