PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Anticipated Hiring Salary: $93,894 - $146,710/Annually

OVERVIEW OF POSITION

The Business Solutions Architect partners with internal clients to plan, design, develop, and implement technology solutions supporting business operations, with a primary focus on the AMANDA permitting and licensing platform.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acts as a technical liaison between users, vendors, and department staff
  • Serves as part of a project team or project manager on assigned initiatives
  • Develops, configures, and maintains workflows, scripts, and other related documentation
  • Develops and implements testing, QA, and documentation processes
  • Creates new workflows and implements them across various applications, with emphasis on AMANDA
  • Monitors the IT Support Desk ticket queue and works applicable tickets through to resolution
  • Conducts end-user training and develops training materials
  • Negotiates and resolves issues with vendors, including AMANDA and third-party solution providers 
  • Participates in system upgrades, enhancements, deployments, and post-implementation support
  • May make work assignments and monitor completion of work of the team
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & WORKING CONDITIONS

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be considered.

Education: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in information technology, computer science, management information systems, or related field

Experience: 

  • 2 years of business information systems analysis experience
  • Experience writing, analyzing, and troubleshooting SQL queries, views, and stored procedures in support of enterprise applications
  • Experience with data and system analysis, including troubleshooting and problem-solving
  • Experience with in-house developed, on-prem, and SAAS application support
  • Experience with business process and workflow analysis, and customer engagement

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with AMANDA (permitting, licensing) or similar enterprise workflow platforms
  • Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

Knowledge:

  • Proficiency with workflow configurations and methods
  • Familiarity with the change management process
  • Proficiency in User Interface and User Experience support
  • Proficiency with Web services, APIs, XML, XSLT, ETL processes, and system integrations
  • Familiarity with relational/non-relational databases
  • Familiarity with Information Security practices
  • Familiarity with networking and systems disciplines

Skills: 

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and oral and written communication skills
  • Strong assessment and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced skill in the use of personal computers, including spreadsheets, database management, and word processing

Abilities: 

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, customers, and other City departments.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with end users, peers, and management on how the software application can assist in supporting their needs.
  • Ability to handle situations with tact, diplomacy, and professionalism.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and fulfill goals and objectives.
  • Ability to proactively research, analyze, present recommendations, and when appropriate, implement computer system changes and upgrades that may be initiated by a variety of sources including staff, management and vendors.
  • Able to navigate IT Support Desk ticket system.

Licenses and Certifications Required: 

  • None

Background Check & Fingerprinting:

· The selected candidate will need to obtain physical and operational security clearance for CJIS (Colorado Justice Information System). The selected candidate will undergo a background check, motor vehicle report, and fingerprint clearance for CJIS access.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Essential Personnel:

  • When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.

Physical Demands:

  • Light physical work that involves moving no more than 20 pounds at a time
  • Frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds
  • Occasional lifting, carrying, walking, and standing
  • Frequent hand/eye coordination forthe operation of office equipment
  • Vision for reading and interpreting reports, data analysis, and preparation
  • Frequent speech communication, hearing,g and listening to maintain communication with employees and citizens

Work Environment:

  • Essential dutiesare performed primarily in an indoor office or public area setting

Equipment Used:

  • Frequently uses standard office equipment, including computer, calculator, multi-line telephones, and copy/fax machines
  • This role may require the incumbent to regularly use personal equipment (e.g., vehicle, cell phone, tools, etc.) in the course of their employment.

The city of Aurora will implement furlough days (unpaid days off) for most employees in 2026. The scheduled furlough dates are January 16, April 10, July 2, and December 24.
