M&G PLC

Business Process Re-Engineering Lead

Edinburgh Full time

Our purpose is to give everyone real confidence to put their money to work. With a heritage dating back more than 175 years, we have a long history of innovation in savings and investments, combining asset management and insurance expertise to offer a wide range of solutions.

Our two distinct operating segments, Asset Management and Life, work together to provide access to balanced, long-term investment and savings solutions.

Through telling it like it is, owning it now, and moving it forward together with care and integrity; we are creating an exceptional place to work for exceptional talent.

We will consider flexible working arrangements for any of our roles and also offer work place accommodations to ensure you have what you need to effectively deliver in your role.

Context

M&G is making material investments in its digital and data capabilities, to improve customer experience, streamline processes, improve controls and embed data in the way we operate.

We are ramping up a Group-wide data transformation programme to drive material improvements in complex, cross-functional processes operating across Asset Management, Life insurance and Finance, through better access to data. The programme aims to implement high-impact, data-driven use cases in subsequent, time-boxed waves. Each wave will enable the Group to progressively upgrade data foundations and capabilities, while enabling the re-engineering of key processes and building momentum across the Organisation.

Benefits will primarily consist in data-led control improvements at first, before expanding to structural efficiency gains, while ensuring we build reusable data products as we progress.

The Business Process Re-engineering Lead will assist in identifying transformation opportunities within the business and facilitate the design and implementation of the solution. A key issue facing any transformation programme is business adoption; this role engages with our business areas and provides active partnering throughout the transformation design and adoption. The initial focus will be a strategic Real Estate data product, and associated Business Processes. You'll need to hit the ground running, picking up knowledge transfer and ensuring continuity as we transition from contractor-led delivery to permanent capability.

Key accountabilities for this role

  • Work with business stakeholders across Asset Management, Life Insurance and Finance to translate data product capabilities into redesigned business processes
  • Lead the analysis of how data automation will impact existing business operating models and drive recommendations on approach
  • Apply Systems Thinking methodologies to challenge whether existing processes are right for the future state – not just making inefficient processes faster
  • Conduct impact assessments and change readiness analysis to identify key stakeholders and anticipated resistance
  • Develop and execute communication and training plans to enable smooth adoption of new ways of working
  • Collaborate with and influence technology delivery teams to ensure data products meet genuine business process needs
  • Define SME resource requirements and coordinate backfill funding to free up the right business people for transformation activities

Key Skills and Experience

  • Proven track record leading business process re-engineering in complex, multi-divisional financial services organisations with demonstrable business impact
  • Strong expertise in Systems Thinking, with practical experience driving lasting business change
  • Experience of change management, conducting impact assessments, change readiness analysis, and delivering communication and training programmes
  • Track record of successfully driving adoption across cross-functional business units
  • Ability to translate technical data concepts into business-friendly language for diverse stakeholders
  • Background in Asset Management, Life Insurance, Pensions or Finance operations preferred but not essential

Key Behaviours

  • Challenges constructively – pushes back on "we've always done it this way" while maintaining productive relationships
  • Outcome-focused – measures success by business adoption and behaviour change, not documents produced
  • Collaborative leader who builds coalitions and aligns stakeholders across organisational boundaries
  • Resilient under pressure – maintains momentum through resistance and finds pragmatic solutions
  • Clear communicator who engages confidently with stakeholders at all levels
