Business Process Outsourcing Assistant Manager

Every day our teams help people in businesses and communities to do what is right and achieve their goals. You will be part of the Business Process Outsourcing function of our CFO Solutions team. You’ll play a key role in supporting clients with their finance, bookkeeping and compliance requirements. Acting as an extension of our clients’ finance teams, we ensure reporting is accurate, timely and compliant, providing a robust foundation for tax and statutory obligations.

This role requires an advisory mindset, a strong focus on cross-service line collaboration, and the ability to build meaningful relationships across the firm and with clients.

A look into the role

As a Business Process Outsourcing Assistant Manager within our CFO Solutions Team, you will support business growth while delivering high-quality services to clients. You will be responsible for managing client relationships, contributing to business development activity, and working closely with colleagues across Grant Thornton and our GT India delivery teams.

Your responsibilities span four key areas:

Relationship management and client delivery

  • Manage a portfolio of clients, ensuring quality, timeliness and profitability of service delivery.
  • Develop a strong understanding of clients’ businesses and expectations, dealing with queries accurately and promptly.
  • Support the onboarding of new clients and understand the complexities of differing business and accounting requirements.
  • Perform technical reviews of management accounts, statutory accounts, VAT returns and payment files, managing associated risks appropriately.
  • Manage aspects of the year-end process, including planning, review and delivery of statutory financial statements.
  • Support with key workload deadline reviews across larger or more complex clients.

Operational excellence and risk management

  • Support the team in delivering departmental strategy by continuously assessing what works well and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Consistently meet deadlines, understanding the commercial implications of productivity, recoverability, fee income and client service.
  • Ensure Working Capital is managed effectively, keeping billing up to date and supporting the recovery of overdue debts.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of Grant Thornton’s risk management procedures and ensure adherence at all times.
  • Ensure the right people are working on the right tasks, recognising individual strengths and fostering an effective teamworking culture.

Business development and growth

  • Build and maintain a strong network of internal and external contacts, attending relevant events and working closely with sector and BD teams.
  • Identify, support and convert opportunities for outsourcing solutions across new and existing clients.
  • Prepare and maintain high-quality proposal documents, including detailed scopes for smaller targets, and support presentations to prospective clients.
  • Manage the proposal process end-to-end, maintaining up-to-date proposal templates and credentials.
  • Contribute to departmental and regional marketing and business development initiatives, including thought leadership and external BPO materials.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the wider Grant Thornton service offering and identify opportunities for cross-line-of-service collaboration.

People development and collaboration

  • Supervise, coach and support junior team members, acting as an escalation point and reviewing work to ensure high quality outcomes.
  • Support the development and growth of colleagues through coaching, feedback and on-the-job learning.
  • Work closely with GT India delivery colleagues and global member firms to ensure efficient, high-quality service delivery across cultures and geographies.
  • Contribute to educating teams across Grant Thornton on the BPO offering and building strong cross-service-line relationships.

Knowing you’re right for us

To join us as a Business Process Outsourcing Assistant Manager, you’ll need:

  • A professional qualification (ACA, ACCA, ICAS, CA or CIPFA)
  • Experience within outsourcing or a similar accounting/ finance services environment.
  • A strong track record of building effective client and internal relationships to support business growth.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to manage both client and delivery team relationships.
  • Experience using internal systems to support operational delivery, reporting and business analytics.
  • Strong commercial awareness and the confidence to engage with and influence senior stakeholders.
  • Good organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • The ability to work effectively across teams with differing cultures and locations.
  • A proactive, adaptable and solutions-focused mindset.

  • Experience in managing, coaching or developing others
  • Experience of successful sales and business development to support the growth of a business
