Psiquantum

Business Operations Associate/Manager European Market Development

Berlin, Berlin, Germany; Brisbane, Queensland, Australia; Daresbury, England, United Kingdom Full Time

PsiQuantum’s mission is to build the first useful quantum computers—machines capable of delivering the breakthroughs the field has long promised. Since our founding in 2016, our singular focus has been to build and deploy million-qubit, fault-tolerant quantum systems.

Quantum computers harness the laws of quantum mechanics to solve problems that even the most advanced supercomputers or AI systems will never reach. Their impact will span energy, pharmaceuticals, finance, agriculture, transportation, materials, and other foundational industries.

Our architecture and approach is based on silicon photonics. By leveraging the advanced semiconductor manufacturing industry—including partners like GlobalFoundries—we use the same high-volume processes that already produce billions of chips for telecom and consumer electronics. Photonics offers natural advantages for scale: photons don’t feel heat, are immune to electromagnetic interference, and integrate with existing cryogenic cooling and standard fiber-optic infrastructure.

In 2024, PsiQuantum announced government-funded projects to support the build-out of our first utility-scale quantum computers in Brisbane, Australia, and Chicago, Illinois. These initiatives reflect a growing recognition that quantum computing will be strategically and economically defining—and that now is the time to scale.

PsiQuantum also develops the algorithms and software needed to make these systems commercially valuable. Our application, software, and industry teams work directly with leading Fortune 500 companies—including Lockheed Martin, Mercedes-Benz, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Mitsubishi Chemical—to prepare quantum solutions for real-world impact.

Quantum computing is not an extension of classical computing. It represents a fundamental shift—and a path to mastering challenges that cannot be solved any other way. The potential is enormous, and we have a clear path to make it real.

Job Summary:

Enable the European Market Development team to win and deliver public-private partnership opportunities by owning funding lifecycles (grant scanning, writing & management), meeting/scheduling ops, market research, and light contracting workflows. The role sits at the intersection of public–private engagement and program delivery, supporting a portfolio that spans EU/UK grants and technology partnerships.

Responsibilities:

Grants:

  • Source and qualify EU/UK calls (e.g. Horizon Europe, EIC, Chips JU, Innovate UK, national programs).
  • Draft compelling grant content (needs, workplans, impact, budget narratives); coordinate partner inputs and internal reviews.
  • Own submissions end-to-end: timelines, portals, compliance documents, signatures.
  • Post-award PMO: reporting, claims, deliverables calendars, risk/issue logs, stakeholder updates.

Delivery & ops:

  • Build briefing packs (context, interlocutor bios, talking points, one-pagers) and run meeting prep/follow-ups.
  • Maintain trackers/CRMs (pipeline, submissions, MOU/SOW status), drive weekly standups, and chase actions to closure.

Market research:

  • Track funding instruments and policies shaping funding programs, and map ecosystem players across key EU capitals/Brussels; produce concise decision memos.

Contracting support:

  • Drive light-touch legal workflows with Legal/Finance: NDAs, MoUs, consultancy SOWs, grant subcontracts; maintain version control and signature routing.

Experience/Qualifications:

  • 2–5 years in one or more: strategy/ops, consulting, EU/UK grants (university/RTO/industry), policy/public-affairs with delivery ownership, or program/PMO roles.
  • Excellent writing and structuring; comfort driving cross-functional timelines.
  • Stakeholder maturity; able to interface with senior counterparts in government/industry.

Nice to have

  • Familiarity with EU/UK funding programs (Horizon Europe/EIC/Chips JU/Innovate UK) and basic public procurement mechanics.
  • Experience preparing executive briefings; exposure to deep-tech or R&D environments preferred.
  • Technical “STEM” degree.
  • Additional EU language(s).

Values & working style

  • Bias to action, organised, detail-tight, thrives in ambiguity, “own the outcome” mindset fit for a high-performance team.
  • Curious about translating technical concepts into clear external narratives.
