SJCON seeks a dynamic, collaborative Business Officer to help shape the future of the healthcare workforce in Central New York. The Business Officer reports to the Dean of St. Joseph’s College of Nursing, with a secondary reporting line to the Director of Finance for St. Joseph’s Health Hospital Center for financial compliance and system integration.

Job Summary: Implement, support, and maintain the mission of St. Joseph’s Health and Trinity health, to serve together in the spirit of the Gospel as a compassionate and transforming health presence within our communities. This position will serve as the primary operational support for the business needs of key service lines and accountable for sustained financial success and growth of those services.
Essential Duties
- Provides strategic financial leadership through the development of annual budgets and multi-year financial plans aligned with mission and strategic goals.
- Builds actionable business plans grounded in data and evidence, projecting the impact of strategic initiatives and ensuring long-term financial health.
- Designs and maintains dashboards with KPIs to monitor financial performance and resource utilization to facilitate decision-making for the Board and administrative team.
- Contributes to a high-functioning team integrating financial planning with enrollment strategies, facilities, technology, and sustainability.
- Leads compliance and external reporting strategy for Title IV, federal and state regulations, and accreditation requirements, embedding robust internal controls that uphold accountability and mitigate risk.
- Identifies and advances opportunities for revenue growth through enrollment optimization, program development, grants, advancement initiatives, and alternative funding streams.
- Provides leadership and supervision for non-academic operations, including student accounts, IT, library, and administrative staff, fostering a culture of psychological safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Ensures resource allocation processes are transparent, data-driven, and aligned with mission.
- Supports accreditation reporting and institutional effectiveness initiatives.
- Directs team for external compliance reporting to regulatory bodies and accreditors, including IPEDS, NYSED, and USDOE.
- Regularly evaluates resource utilization for efficiency and effectiveness to inform continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Minimum 3-5 years of progressive leadership experience in finance, budgeting, and business operations.
- MBA or equivalent graduate degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related field.
- Demonstrated success in developing and managing annual budgets and multi-year financial plans.
- Experience with business intelligence tools (e.g., PowerBI, Tableau), KPI dashboards, and data-driven decision-making.
- Familiarity with compliance and external reporting (Title IV, IPEDS, state/federal regulations).
- Supervisory experience managing cross-functional teams (finance, IT, or administrative operations).
- Familiarity with accreditation standards (regional or professional accreditors).
Pay Range based on experience and location $43.50-$56.40
