Job Summary

The Business Manager leads and manages an organization responsible for delivering essential business services that support plant operations and strategic objectives. This role is responsible for the financial management of the plant(s), including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and data analysis. This role also oversees the procurement, contract administration, accounts payable, storeroom functions at the plant(s). The position provides additional services aligned with overall business and plant goals.

What you'll do:

Essential Job Functions & Tasks

  • Lead and direct the development of plant business and financial plans by coordinating budgeting and forecasting processes within corporate systems; deliver accurate financial reporting and analysis to support economic evaluations and informed business decisions.

  • Develop accurate budgets and forecasts aligned with departmental and business unit plans; manage and control expenditures within approved budget levels to support operational and strategic objectives.

  • Ensure the timely and accurate completion of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and operational reporting in compliance with company procedures and applicable local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.

  • Provide management oversight for the administration and processing of contractor and material requisitions, contract amendments, and invoices in accordance with company policies; ensure compliance with purchasing and inventory control standards and participate in plant audits as required.

  • Direct and oversee plant procurement, inventory management, and resource functions through effective supervision of staff to ensure plant needs and operational goals are met.

  • Oversee and coordinate site training activities in alignment with corporate and plant training requirements to maintain workforce readiness, safety, and compliance.

  • Support regulatory filings by providing financial analysis, budgeting, and responses to discovery requests related to plant financial and operational performance; provide testimony support as requested.

  • Perform administrative leadership responsibilities necessary for effective department management, including employee safety, selection, development, compensation administration, employee counseling and motivation, and the planning, organizing, measuring, and reporting of departmental work.

  • Provide leadership by setting and achieving departmental goals aligned with energy center objectives; contribute to cross‑functional teams and foster collaboration to achieve organizational results.

  • Demonstrate an advanced understanding of company operations and business processes, with an emphasis on identifying and fulfilling customer requirements.

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships across the department and the organization while handling multiple priorities and projects concurrently within established deadlines.

  • Safeguard sensitive and confidential company information and ensure consistent adherence to company policies, procedures, and workplace safety requirements.

  • Maintain regular attendance and perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What we're looking for:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or a related field is desired. (An advanced degree in business (Master of Business Administration) and/or CPA designation is preferred.)

SG 09 Required Experience:

  • Eight years of related experience, including at least three years in supervisory or management roles.

SG 10 Required Experience:

  • Nine-ten years of related experience, including at least three years in supervisory or management roles.

Other requirements:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.

  • Effective interpersonal and leadership skills.

  • Experience with financial and data analysis tools and dashboards; advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple concurrent tasks and projects.

What you'll get:

SG 09 pay starting between $116,255-$151,132/year

SG 10 pay starting between $136,539-$177,503/year

Compensation Range:

$116,255.00 - $177,503.00
