Job Summary: We are recruiting for one (1) Business Manager position located in the Medicine Health Care Group of the VA Long Beach Healthcare System and reports to the Chief of Patient Care Services. The incumbent will have full responsibility for the administrative functioning of the Health Care Group through effective utilization of all available resources to provide the best possible patient care.
Major Duties:
Qualifications: To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 04/02/2026. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-12 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-11. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: Do you have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-11) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization? Examples of specialized experience would typically include but are not limited to: 1. Manage and coordinate Medical Operations in support of the Inpatient medicine units (ICU, Med/surgical), Outpatient areas, Procedural Areas, i.e., GI Endoscopy, Nuclear Stress, Cardiac Cath Lab, Hemodialysis, Hematology-Oncology Infusion Clinic, Dermatology MOHS procedures, and the Emergency Department. 2. Experience in managing medical labor and equipment contracts. Write the statement of work for the contract requirements utilized to support the procedural areas. 3. Experience in managing clinical appointment grids for new and established patients, evaluating utilization, and capacity to see patients. 4. Experience in credentialing, i.e., medical providers, nurse practitioners, fee basis. Understand OPPE/FPPE 5. Experience analyzing and using data to evaluate clinical access and wait time data (e.g., clinic capacity, scheduling, missed opportunities) to recommend or implement changes that improve veterans' access to care and corresponding performance metric. 6. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities.
