About The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced AWS BI Solution Architect with strong SAP expertise to lead and evolve our established AWS-based analytics platform. This role will serve as the technical leader of our enterprise BI architecture, driving continuous improvement, scalability, performance optimization, governance, and innovation.

Our AWS data platform has been established, and the current focus is on increasing data ingestion from SAP (ECC and S/4) and other non-SAP systems for enterprise reporting. The next phase requires strong architectural leadership to enhance integration, improve data modeling standards, optimize cost and performance, and expand advanced analytics capabilities.

This is a high-impact leadership role with visibility across the organization.

Job Title: AWS BI Solution Architect

Location: Onsite – Neenah, WI (preferred) or Oconomowoc, WI
Reports To: IT Senior Director - Data & Analytics

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced AWS BI Solution Architect with strong SAP expertise to lead and evolve our established AWS-based analytics platform. This role will serve as the technical leader of our enterprise BI architecture, driving continuous improvement, scalability, performance optimization, governance, and innovation.

Our AWS data platform has been established, and the current focus is on increasing data ingestion from SAP (ECC and S/4) and other non-SAP systems for enterprise reporting. The next phase requires strong architectural leadership to enhance integration, improve data modeling standards, optimize cost and performance, and expand advanced analytics capabilities.

This is a high-impact leadership role with visibility across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Player/Coach Technical Leadership

  • Architect solutions while remaining hands-on in design reviews, SQL development, and pipeline troubleshooting.

  • Lead by example in writing performant queries and optimizing ETL jobs.

  • Mentor data engineers and BI developers through code reviews and architectural guidance.

  • Establish engineering standards and development best practices.

  • Coach team members on dimensional modeling and data structures.

2. SAP & Enterprise Data Ingestion Ownership

  • Lead ingestion for SAP data (ECC and S/4HANA).

  • Lead integration of additional enterprise systems and flat files into AWS.

  • Define full load vs. incremental load standards.

  • Establish monitoring and alerting for pipeline reliability.

  • Reduce ingestion latency where appropriate.

3. AWS BI Platform Optimization

  • Own and enhance AWS architecture leveraging appropriate AWS Services

  • Optimize Glue jobs and ETL frameworks.

  • Improve S3 lifecycle and storage tiering strategies.

  • Implement cost optimization strategies across compute and storage.

  • Drive performance benchmarking and continuous improvement.

4. Data Modeling & Analytics Enablement

  • Lead enterprise dimensional modeling standards.

  • Improve semantic layers and curated data marts.

  • Position platform for advanced analytics and AI/ML readiness.

5. Governance, Security & Reliability

  • Strengthen IAM, row-level security, and data access controls.

  • Implement data quality monitoring frameworks.

  • Document lineage and data definitions.

  • Define SLAs and reliability metrics.

  • Ensure compliance with enterprise security policies.

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years in data architecture, BI, or data engineering roles.

  • 5+ years hands-on experience designing AWS data platforms.

  • SAP data expertise (ECC and/or S/4HANA).

  • Proven experience with SAP data ingestion into a cloud warehouse.

  • Strong experience with:

    • AWS Glue ETL frameworks

    • S3 data lake architecture

  • Advanced SQL and dimensional modeling expertise.

  • Experience leading technical teams while remaining hands-on.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Solutions Architect Certification.

  • Experience with SAP SLT, ODP, CDS views, or SAP BW.

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
