Your mission

TThe Business Unit Director Oncology Benelux is responsible for the strategic, commercial and organizational performance of Pierre Fabre’s oncology portfolio in Benelux. The role requires a strong strategic leader with in‑depth knowledge of oncology, the healthcare and reimbursement landscape, and excellent capabilities to connect and lead cross‑functional teams in a complex matrix organization.

The Business Unit Director Oncology Benelux at Pierre Fabre is an Utrecht‑based, strategically strong and connective leader with deeply rooted experience in oncology, market access and the Benelux healthcare system. This role requires authority, vision and the ability to mobilize cross‑functional teams and external stakeholders in the service of sustainable oncological innovation.

Reports to: General Manager Benelux 

Scope: The Netherlands, Belgium & Luxembourg 

Team: ± 12 direct and indirect reports (Sales & Marketing) 

Regular travel within the Netherlands and to Belgium/Luxembourg is part of the role. 

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategy & Commercial End Responsibility

  • Develop and implement the Benelux oncology strategy in line with the global Pierre Fabre trajectory;
  • Translate pipeline and portfolio ambitions into local go‑to‑market strategies with a strong focus on omnichannel activities;
  • P&L responsibility for the oncology business.
  • Lead strategic negotiations with hospitals, hospital pharmacists, health insurers and policy bodies;
  • Prioritize indications, resources, and investments within a highly regulated market.

2. Market Access & Reimbursement knowledge

  • Co‑responsibility for reimbursement and access strategies in the Benelux;
  • Develop innovative access solutions (including value‑based arrangements);
  • Knowledge of:
    • complex market access trajectories,
    • negotiations with hospitals, ZN (Dutch Health Insurers Association) and ZINL (National Health Care Institute),
    • (Required) The Netherlands: ZINL procedures, “sluis”, GVS, DOT/DBC system, negotiations with ZN and hospitals,
    • (Preferred) Belgium: RIZIV/INAMI and local reimbursement processes.

3. Cross‑functional Leadership

  • Operate effectively within a matrix organization, with intensive collaboration with:
    • Medical Affairs
    • Market Access
    • Finance
    • Customer Service
  • Act as a connecting leader who brings together conflicting interests into one integrated oncology strategy;
  • Create clear joint goals, ownership and accountability across functions.

4. People Leadership & Organizational Development

  • Lead and develop a high‑performing team;
  • Coach senior professionals at strategic and personal leadership level;
  • Active focus on talent development and succession planning;
  • Act as a role model within the organization.

5. Stakeholder Management & External Positioning

  • Actively maintain and expand a strong personal network within oncology, with focus on the Netherlands and preferably also Belgium;
  • External representation of Pierre Fabre towards oncologists and key opinion leaders, health insurers and policymakers, hospital management;
  • Position Pierre Fabre as a long‑term, reliable oncology partner.

6. Governance, Compliance & Reputation

  • Ensure full compliance with laws and regulations and internal compliance;
  • Safeguard medical, ethical and societal standards in all commercial activities.

Who you are ?

  • Minimum of 5–10 years of experience within the pharmaceutical industry;
  • Demonstrable leadership experience within Oncology (preferably Business Unit‑, franchise‑ or country‑level);
  • Extensive and demonstrable expertise in:
    • complex market access trajectories
    • negotiations with hospitals, Zorgverzekeraars and Zorginstituut Nederland
    • Possess a strong and relevant oncology network in the Benelux
  • Master’s degree (Life Sciences, Business Administration, Economics or Medicine);
  • Fluent in Dutch and English;
  • French is an advantage;
  • The location for this role is Utrecht .
