Join our growing Corporate & Entrepreneur team and work alongside the Head of Client Development, our Investment Managers and Financial Planners to promote Quilter Cheviot’s services to entrepreneurs, business owners and corporate professional services firms (including legal, tax and M&A advisers).
This is an exciting time to join the team as we refine our service proposition and build a national strategy to expand our presence within the corporate and entrepreneur segment. We are seeking a Business Development Manager/Executive to help broaden our reach, identify new opportunities and ensure we fully maximise our existing relationships.
This newly created role is central to generating opportunities, embedding our proposition within intermediary firms and developing a “Partnership Model” that delivers value to professional partners and drives new business growth. You will collaborate not only with the Corporate & Entrepreneur team, but also Professional Services and with the External Adviser BDM team, Technical Specialists and Marketing.
The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in the corporate and entrepreneur space, a good understanding of the entrepreneurial journey and key legal/tax touchpoints, and the ability to build trusted relationships with business owners and professional advisers. You will ideally bring some connections across corporate finance, legal and accountancy firms, be a confident communicator and collaborative team player, and demonstrate strong self‑motivation and commercial focus. You should be able to advocate for Quilter Cheviot’s proposition, curate high‑quality pitches and connect prospects with internal experts and trusted third‑party professionals to deliver an exceptional client experience.
Reporting directly to the Head of Client Development – Corporate & Entrepreneur, you will collaborate with the Sales Support Analyst, Financial Planners, Investment Managers and professional services partners. Your responsibilities will include:
Build and develop strong relationships with business owners, entrepreneurs and key professional services firms (corporate finance, legal, tax and accountancy).
Work collaboratively with the BDM team, Financial Planners and Investment Managers to support and grow relationships with key intermediary firms across the UK.
Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of Quilter Cheviot’s products and services, and when these are appropriate for prospects and clients.
Build a strong understanding of key intermediary services and identify opportunities for reciprocal referrals where appropriate.
Provide training and insight to solicitors, accountants, professional partners and internal stakeholders on Quilter Cheviot’s offerings and the entrepreneur/corporate segment.
Use prospecting tools to identify high‑potential prospects and share targeted intelligence with CECE members.
Collate and analyse information about target intermediaries and market activity to support business development planning.
Identify opportunities to introduce Quilter Cheviot’s technical support teams to intermediaries and coordinate their involvement where beneficial.
Develop and manage a “panel” of key intermediary relationships and be accountable for the ongoing servicing and development of those connections.
Support the onboarding process for new clients by liaising effectively with intermediaries and internal teams to ensure seamless handovers.
Contribute to and deliver CECE meeting actions, share market insights, and support the refinement of the corporate and entrepreneur proposition.
Help prepare and coordinate bespoke, high‑impact pitches, bringing together the right internal specialists and trusted third‑party partners.
Communicate Quilter Cheviot’s proposition confidently through presentations, written material and social media (e.g., LinkedIn).
Gather and present feedback from intermediaries and prospects to help identify service gaps and maintain competitiveness.
Maintain clear visibility of sales opportunities, activity levels and pipeline development, keeping management and the wider team informed.
Ensure all engagement and communication aligns with FCA Consumer Duty requirements, even when not interacting directly with clients.
Attend relevant team meetings, summarise key actions and ensure timely follow‑up.
Be willing to travel occasionally to meet intermediaries, prospects or internal teams as required.
Understanding of the Entrepreneurial Journey
Demonstrates insight into the lifecycle of a business owner from start‑up to exit, including the evolving financial, legal and financial planning priorities at each stage.
Appreciates the emotional and financial complexities around liquidity events, succession planning, and intergenerational wealth.
Understands how business value creation connects to personal and family wealth planning needs.
Knowledge of Key Legal & Tax Touchpoints
A broad awareness of important legal and tax considerations faced by business owners (e.g., share structures, EMI schemes, CGT considerations, trusts, corporate restructuring).
Understands how legal and tax advisers support business owners during funding rounds, acquisitions, exits, and estate planning.
Interest in the Corporate, Entrepreneur & Professional Services Ecosystem
Demonstrates curiosity and enthusiasm for working with entrepreneurs, corporate finance advisers, tax professionals, legal firms, accountants, and other intermediaries.
Keeps up to date with market dynamics, M&A trends, and the broader corporate advisory landscape.
Passionate about supporting business owners through complex financial journeys with empathy and professionalism.
Business Development & Relationship Management Skills
Proven ability to build, nurture and convert relationships across professional services, intermediary networks, and the entrepreneur community.
Ideally brings an existing network within corporate finance, corporate law, tax/accountancy or related sectors (desirable, not essential).
Support the Corporate & Entrepreneur Centre of Excellence (CECE) to share insights and take ownership of CECE meeting outputs and actions.
Uses platforms like Beauhurst to identify prospects and support CECE members with targeted insight, prospect lists, and relationship‑building opportunities
Communication & Presentation
A confident public speaker, comfortable presenting to groups including professional services partners, advisers and business owners.
Strong written communication skills, capable of producing high‑quality materials (PowerPoint, Excel) follow‑ups and thought leadership where needed.
Confidently advocates for Quilter Cheviot’s Corporate & Entrepreneur proposition across external channels, including social media platforms such as LinkedIn.
Collaborative & Team-Oriented
Works closely with the Head of Client Development, financial planners, investment managers and marketing to drive aligned outcomes.
