Job Title:        Manager, Construction Business Development

Reports to:     Market Development Manager – Construction & Terol                  

Location:        Shanghai, China        

Job Purpose

The purpose of this role is to be the back-selling business development person, who is responsible for the execution of agreed business and profitability targets established within the assigned framework.  

Focusing on the China construction downstream market, this role interfaces with key stakeholders and decision-makers (Architects, Designers, Contractors, and Project Owners) to secure, generate and monitor tight specifications for professional specifiers thus contributing towards given target of construction business.

Principal Accountabilities:

Overall Construction Business Development

  • Promote construction, including nZEB solution and new technologies through customer visits, education, and communications.
  • Educate Architects, Designers, Contractors, and Project Owners and other key stakeholders through presentations and providing updates on new materials and refreshing knowledge on current technologies.
  • Secure specification positions of given projects and quantifying values relating to nZEB and construction downstream.
  • Document in CRM all project leads and secured specifications.

For nZEB related projects,

nZEB new product market commercialization and promotion

  • Back-selling to key stakeholders (i.e. Architects, Designers, Contractors, and Project Owners)
  • Support regional construction authority approval process.
  • Support establishment new product standard, including documentation and approval.
  • Organize construction developers’ promotion seminar

Back-selling product solution into target nZEB construction projects

  • Identify key stakeholders in target nZEB project
  • Build sales argument to present Huntsman solution’s value to various stakeholders.
  • Establish win-win customer relationship.
  • Selling value through value-based price negotiation

Grow and expand nZEB business.

  • Continuously identify new product opportunity for nZEB offerings / solution
  • Geographic expansion from Shanghai to other regions

Knowledge / Experience / Skills Needed

  • Must have knowledge in residential or commercial construction.
  • Must demonstrate solid qualifying and closing ability as well as a history of project sales success.
  • Critical thinking and excellent MS PowerPoint skills
  • Frequent travel upon business or project request

Required qualification certificate

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

Experiences:

  • >5 years’ experience in commercial, sales and key account management, or sales to strategic accounts in construction chemical or related business-to-business industry.  Specification sales experience preferred.
  • Played independent role in commercial project, familiar with construction eco-system and stakeholders behavior, handled either marketing or commercial project independently.
  • Sales or Business Development experience can help this role to better fit downstream marketing activities.
