Business Development Manager - Cell Culture Media (x|f|m)

We are looking for a Business Development Manager - Cell Culture Media (x|f|m) to join our Emerging Business Unit CMTS home based in Germany at Sartorius Stedim Biotech GmbH. In this role, you will be responsible for hunting, shaping and winning high impact opportunities across a broad product portfolio focused on Cell Culture Media. This will be done through advanced technical selling, workflow consulting, market development, driving revenue, adoption and strategic opportunity creation in collaboration with Central Sales.

You will be joining a newly created team, and we are looking forward to shaping the future with you. This position is available for full-time. It is a field-based role requiring (>50%) traveling to customers worldwide, with an initial focus on the EMEA region.

  • Hunt and qualify complex new opportunities across assigned markets by identifying whitespace, unmet needs, and high‑value prospects not covered by Central Sales 

  • Design and execute advanced technical demos, trials, and workflow evaluations to shape customer requirements and accelerate technical validation 

  • Drive technical deal shaping and competitive positioning by quantifying customer impact, influencing solution configuration, and resolving advanced technical objections to increase our win rate 

  • Co‑lead commercial offer development with Central Sales by providing data‑driven technical inputs that materially influence deal structure and closure 

  • Engage in market and portfolio development by identifying emerging use cases, competitive shifts, and workflow trends that inform product positioning and enable sales acceleration 

  • Ensure seamless pre‑ to post‑adoption transition by stabilizing early usage, resolving technical blockers, and enabling handover to Central Sales for long‑term account development 

  • Serve as a key interface between customers and internal teams (R&D, Operations), ensuring alignment with global objectives and delivering customer-focused solutions

  • Provide technical input to Central Sales, Business Unit stakeholders (e.g. PM, other BU Tech Sales roles) and Legal on the technical sections of contract terms and conditions to ensure technical feasibility, clear scope definition, reduced delivery risk, and alignment with customer workflows, without assuming commercial ownership 

What will convince us

  • A Master’s degree in Life Sciences (e.g., Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Genetics, Chemistry, Virology ) forms the academic foundation for this role

  • Relevant professional years of experience in technical sales, workflow consulting, application support, or presales within a scientific or technical environment are essential

  • Experience of new business development, growing and maintaining customers, develop and monitor sales pipeline

  • Proven hunter mindset with the ability to influence decision‑makers and demonstrate strong technical depth across broad product portfolios

  • Demonstrated capability to understand and shape customer workflows, develop compelling value‑based value propositions, and successfully win competitive opportunities

  • Strong consultative communication skills enable clear articulation of both technical and commercial value to diverse stakeholders

  • Proficiency in CRM systems and structured sales processes, combined with disciplined documentation practices, is required

  • Willingness to travel more than 50%, with a strong focus on external customer engagements, is integral to the role

  • Business-fluent English is mandatory; German proficiency is an advantage
