Business Development Advisor

As a business development advisor for Caisse Desjardins Ontario Credit Union, you help serve, prospect for, solicit, develop and maintain business relationships with members and clients with niche advisory needs. You take care of customer service and help sell specialized business products and services through multiple distribution channels based on member/client needs and in accordance with strategies and practices. You help develop and maintain business relationships with members and clients in your field. You analyze and handle unusual or unique requests from clients about specialized products and services. You help members and clients reach their financial goals by providing advisory services that are embedded in Desjardins products and services, while showcasing your ability to focus on results. You ensure all services are satisfactory and of high-quality in accordance with the organization’s standards and procedures. You help analyze member/client needs, develop and implement personalized solutions and propose integrated service offers. Interpersonal savvy is therefore essential. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Establish an advisory relationship by identifying current and potential needs and supporting client retention.

  • Support members and clients with unique needs, advise them on specialized products and services, and ensure their satisfaction. 

  • Interact with professionals from outside the organization about their experiences.

  • Support clients so they can reach their financial goals, develop a solution tailored to their needs, and negotiate the applicable conditions.

  • Contribute to business development objectives by prospecting, identifying and developing new business opportunities, ideally striking a balance between member and client satisfaction, profitability and risk management.

  • Stay on top of the latest standards, products and services in your field.

What you bring to the table

  • College diploma in a related field

  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience

  • Please note that other combinations of qualifications and relevant experience may be considered

  • Mutual fund representative certificate – Autorité des marchés financiers

  • Knowledge of French is required

  • Intermediate advanced proficiency of English speaking due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English-speaking partners, members and/or clients

  • Willing to travel occasionally (5% to 10% of the time) to meet with members or for training purposes
