Business Cost Analyst

Leidos is seeking two Cost Analysts to join our dynamic Project Consulting team within our Power Delivery Services Division. Our Power Delivery Services Team is the go-to for utilities and mobile operators who need reliable power and telecommunication expertise. As a Cost Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis efforts for major capital initiatives across our power generation portfolio. These roles will be based out of the Woodlands, TX with 4 days per week required in the office.

Key Responsibilities (All Levels)

At all levels, the Cost Analysts will:

  • Develop, maintain, and utilize financial and planning models to forecast project costs and evaluate scenarios.
  • Assist in the compilation, review, and monitoring of budgets, actuals, and long-range business plans.
  • Maintain accurate spending records and help establish measures for budgetary control and cost management.
  • Interface with cross-functional project teams to monitor performance, track variances, and provide meaningful insights.
  • Support preparation of internal and external communications, including reporting packages, variance explanations, and financial forecasts.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance cost transparency, reporting efficiency, and analytical rigor.

The entry-level role is perfect for candidates beginning their careers in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related analytical fields. You will perform structured and routine analytical work, gaining core competencies in project cost analysis and financial modeling while supporting senior analysts and project teams.

In the entry-level position, You will:

  • Build foundational skills in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Support data collection, spending tracking, and reporting activities.
  • Learn to analyze cost trends and provide preliminary insights to project leadership.
  • Grow your understanding of capital projects in the utility industry through hands-on work and mentorship.

Mid-Level contributors will take on greater ownership of cost models, project reporting, and budget analysis. You will interface more frequently with project teams and help identify cost drivers, risks, and improvement opportunities.

In the Mid-level position, You will:

  • Independently maintain financial models and support scenario-based analysis.
  • Provide routine reporting on project budgets, forecasts, and variances.
  • Engage directly with stakeholders to support cost control efforts.
  • Recommend process improvements and bring analytical rigor to decision-making.

Qualifications (All Levels)

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
  • Entry Level: 0-2 Years of related experience
  • Mid - Level: 2+ Years of related experience
  • Strong analytical capability and proficiency with MS Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Exposure to financial modeling, budgeting, forecasting, or cost analysis.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools (Power BI, Cognos, Maximo, PowerPlan) is a plus, though not required for junior roles.

Pay Range:

Pay Range $50,700.00 - $91,650.00
