Business Control Specialist II

We are looking for a committed, energetic, highly organised, and delivery-oriented Business Control Specialist to support the 1st LoD NFR Specialist Wholesale Banking (WB) the Netherlands.
This is an unique opportunity to gain broad exposure across Wholesale Banking in the Netherlands, working on business risk and controls deliverables while collaborating closely with senior leadership.
This role requires a professional who combines common sense, curiosity, maturity, and excellent judgment with the ability to multi-task, prioritize effectively, and demonstrate organizational sensitivity.

The Role
As Business Control Specialist you will become part of the Strategy, Change & Control (SCC) team and will work in close co-operation with the WBNL Management Team and Non-Financial Risk, Compliance, Legal and ODCR colleagues. The purpose of this role is to ensure that WBNL’s activities are in line with regulatory requirements.


Key responsibilities
Project Management: Support the integration process with ING NL for the multiple frameworks, organizing meetings and calls in a structured and efficient manner, while ensuring alignment with organizational priorities

Monitor Non-Financial Risks: Support NFR monitoring across the WB NL domain, ensuring adherence to compliance and risk management frameworks
Data Quality Management: Identify and report data quality issues in Irisk and Cognos, ensuring accurate and reliable data is available for decision-making


Help prepare decision making and governance documents to close open discussions on risk ownership, processes and performance.

About you, you are

  • An Effective Communicator: Demonstrated excellence in stakeholder management and the ability to engage with senior leaders and teams across the organization
  • A Result-driven Executor: Proven ability to deliver measurable results through effective planning, prioritization, and execution of tasks.
  • Eager to Learn: Knowledgeable about compliance and non-financial risks, or willing to develop expertise in this critical area
  • A Team Player: Able to work both independently and collaboratively, embracing diversity and ING’s core values.


In Addition, you have

  • A Master’s degree and work experience in one or more WB business lines.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with Dutch as a plus.
  • A hands-on, self-starter mentality, able to see the bigger picture, anticipate trends, and act proactively.
  • Outstanding attention to detail and follow-through on tasks and projects.
  • A “can-do” attitude and the willingness to tackle challenges head-on.
