The Business Control Office (BCO) is a front office function reporting to the Divisional Control Officer (DCO) in Corporate Bank with the primary objective to advise the front office i.e. Sales, Coverage and/or Trading desks and its Management by maintaining a robust Non-Financial Risk (NFR) Governance and Framework as part of the first line of defense.

BCO’s mandate entails fundamentally the identification of NFR risks such as regulatory, conduct and systemic risks, the definition of mitigation processes for those risks, and the development, implementation and monitoring Level 1 controls where required. In addition to working closely with the Product, Sales and Coverage desks, your reach, and interaction will be broad, including engagement within Corporate Bank (CB), the Investment Bank (IB), DCO’s across divisions and those functions forming the 2nd Line of defense within the 3 Lines of Defense (3LoD) program.

You will be in the Corporate Bank Divisional Control Office function supporting the Sales and Coverage business.

Your key responsibilities

  • Identifying non-financial risks (regulatory, conduct and systemic) for Front Office and definition of control requirements thereof
  • Developing, implementing and monitoring level 1 controls and managing findings
  • Supporting conducting risk assessments.
  • Creating metrics and reports to ensure appropriate monitoring, management and transparency of non-financial risks
  • Responsibility for monitoring the risk remediation/implementation on key issues/managing Corporate Bank’s Trading Governance
  • Ongoing monitoring and creation of management reporting and escalation process to senior management. Providing information and coordinating within DCO, Chief Operating Office (COO), 2nd Line of Defence (LoD) and 3LoD and Inputting definition of control improvement program, and analyzing the efficiency of spend on controls

Your skills and experience

  • NFR Relevant experience in a front office role in IB or CB or relevant Compliance, Control, Legal, Middle Office or Audit function
  • Relevant FIC (e.g. Foreign Exchange, Rates and/or Global Emerging Markets) products experience through previous work experience
  • Project management experience within an Investment Bank
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification/work experience with finance/ economic background
  • Ability to formulate clearly and present information in a compelling manner
  • Strong communication skills needed to synthesize technical content to senior level management
  • Demonstrated influencing, negotiation and analytical skills
