Job Description
JOB PURPOSE
The Strategy Analyst is responsible for supporting strategic planning, cascading, implementation, tracking, strategy execution, industry & competitive intelligence review, and all reporting of a strategic and monitoring nature.
The jobholder will engage stakeholders across the organization to in monitoring and tracking, coherent reporting of strategy execution and results.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES.
Strategic Planning support:
- Support coordination of the annual strategic planning and review process and support Business Units plans and goal alignment with support functions.
- Supports the Strategic planning process by assisting in the development of models, frameworks and templates.
- Prepares the strategic plans for engagements with Boards, Staffs and the Center.
- Performs ad hoc strategic analysis as guided / required on key issues facing the business or industry.
- Participates in preparing and managing the forecasting process (12 months rolling) to ensure appropriate targets are set, periodically reviewed and all parameters considered.
- Supports the process of creatively cascading, communicating and internalizing the strategy across the organization and to key external implementation partners for buy in
Strategic Implementation tracking and Enterprise performance management
- Maintains a single source of organization, departmental and business unit performance data on an on-going basis as part of enterprise performance management.
- Prepares monthly strategic implementation reports and keeps Senior Managers informed of project direction as necessary.
- Support in the formulation of short-term and long-term strategic objectives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Quantify the impact of business initiatives by utilizing data gathering tools, extracting data for analysis and interpretation, preparing reports synthesizing analytical results and outlining business cases to appropriate levels of management.
- Support preparation of the company and departmental scorecards annually as part of the Business Planning Process with quarterly appraising
- Highlights any material risks to the implementation of the same and escalates to the relevant parties for corrective action.
- Flag issue areas monthly to MD and accountable head for course correction
Strategic Execution Support
- Supports development of relevant execution approaches and strategies to ensure high level buy-in from senior management, commitment from OM staff and follow-through on strategic commitments made.
- Provide ad-hoc strategic review and support issues areas for the business with strategic, operational and tactical interventions/ ‘cause correct recommendations.
- Support and coordinate workstreams and taskforces driving key priority areas execution and support through deep insights and reporting on milestones and next actions (maintaining and circulating regular dashboards tracker)
- Support transformation realization through competitive internal and external insights and ideas development and roll out.
Industry, Market and Business Intelligence Review:
- Support development of a comprehensive strategic view of the insurance industry strategic landscape, including consumer trends, competitive intelligence, products reviews, and emerging industry issues on a periodic basis.
- Leveraging on data mining and business intelligence, identifies trends, patterns and opportunities in the current performance and collaborates with the team in review of periodic targets e.g. initiatives impact reviews and various performance metrics and customer behaviour patterns.
- Performs ad hoc analysis and provides guidance on more complex analytical projects and planning.
Strategic Reporting:
- Prepares business reports on a monthly and quarterly basis focused on strategic priorities for consumption by senior management, the Centre, staff briefing and the Boards.
- Adopt Mission Leadership Tool for all engagements on strategic execution (EXCOs, Boards, OMEA and OMAR).
- Lead Quarterly Staff engagement and Communications on strategy implementation and business updates.
Risk Management:
- Support the implementation of the Strategic and Business Risk Policy
- Monitor the departmental risk items and IBAM items for timely closure.
- Support reinforcement of risk culture.
- Support the achievement of full compliance to all regulatory requirements
ANTI-MONEY LAUNDERING (AML) EXPECTATION
The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring adherence to, implementation of, and adoption of Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Sanctions-related policies, procedures, and process requirements within Old Mutual and its subsidiaries. This includes execution of customer due diligence processes, ensuring compliance with Know-Your-Customer (KYC) standards, conducting ongoing and enhanced due diligence, and maintaining data quality. Additionally, the role involves identifying and monitoring potential AML, Sanctions, or Compliance breaches and unusual activities, and escalating these concerns to the Risk and Compliance Office for further action.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- 3+ Years progressive financial services industry experience or management consultant firm with exposure in financial services
- Extensive experience in data extraction, analysis, interpretation, and reports formulation and presentation.
- Demonstratable ability to prepare quality reports
QUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM EDUCATION
- Finance, Accounting or Actuarial Science degree from a recognised local university ACCA, CPA or Actuarial professional qualification
- A Master’s degree in a business-related field will be an added advantage.
