Mō te Tūranga – About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Business and Relationship Strategy Lead to shape and execute the strategic direction of our Small Business, Private Banking, and Wealth divisions. Operating within the COO function, this role will act as a trusted partner to senior leadership, collaborating across teams to drive long-term growth, operational excellence, and customer-centric outcomes. You will play a pivotal role in translating strategic objectives into actionable plans, enabling data-driven decision-making, and delivering initiatives that enhance performance across our business and relationship banking segments.
 

This is a high-impact role where you will lead the development and execution of strategy, provide guidance to senior leaders, and ensure alignment across cross-functional teams. You will be responsible for identifying growth opportunities, conducting market analysis, and monitoring the success of strategic initiatives. With a strong focus on performance and innovation, you will prepare insights and recommendations that influence executive decision-making and contribute to the future direction of our business.
 

Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?

We are looking for a strategic leader with proven experience in banking and business strategy, who thrives in complex environments and can influence at the highest levels.
 

  • 8+ years of experience in banking, with 3–5 years in a senior strategic or operational role
  • Proven track record in strategy development and execution, ideally with exposure to business banking segments
  • Strong understanding of banking operations, regulatory compliance, and customer service excellence
  • Experience in top-tier consulting or internal strategy roles
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and manage complex projects
  • Strong commercial and strategic acumen with successful business development outcomes
  • Senior-level stakeholder engagement and presentation skills, including Board-level reporting
  • Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with a collaborative approach
