The Business Analyst plays a key role in shaping data-driven solutions across the University by leading the identification, definition, and translation of complex business requirements into actionable system designs. Operating at a senior level, this role requires a confident and autonomous professional who can manage broad-scope projects and engage effectively with senior stakeholders.

Collaborating closely with internal and external partners—including business stakeholders, solution architects, project managers, and technical teams—the Business Analyst ensures the successful delivery and ongoing support of data-centric applications. This opportunity offers the chance to influence strategic decision-making, improve business efficiency, and lead initiatives that drive innovation in data processes and technology solutions University-wide.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead data migration activities including defining mapping logic, coordinating data cleansing, transformation, validation and testing to ensure high-quality, compliant data outcomes.

  • Translate business and technical requirements into detailed deliverables such as user stories, data models, integration specifications, transformation rules and system design documentation.

  • Embed strong data management practices by supporting data quality initiatives, implementing validation checkpoints and contributing to sustainable data governance processes.

  • Engage stakeholders and support delivery by facilitating workshops, gathering requirements, contributing to solution design and coordinating testing activities including system testing, migration validation and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

About You

You are an experienced business analyst with strong capability in data and integration analysis within complex enterprise environments. You bring a structured, analytical approach and the ability to collaborate closely with business and technical teams to translate requirements into practical, high-quality solutions. You are comfortable navigating complex systems and data environments, documenting technical specifications and contributing to continuous improvement while ensuring alignment with governance, compliance and delivery standards.

You will demonstrate:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in data-focused business analysis roles.

  • Strong ability to document technical artefacts such as data mapping specifications, integration documentation and process flows, with a focus on data and integration accuracy.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex systems and data flows, quickly building understanding to support efficient analysis, mapping and solution identification.

  • Experience contributing to project planning by presenting solution options, insights and recommendations that support clear understanding and informed decision-making by business stakeholders.

  • Experience supporting testing activities such as data validation, migration testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure high-quality solution delivery.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences through workshops, interviews and written documentation.

  • A proactive and self-motivated approach, with the ability to work autonomously, manage ambiguity and deliver outcomes in dynamic project environments.

Desirable

  • Experience in the Higher Education Industry.

  • Experience working in an Agile, Scrum environment.

  • Experience with integration development technologies such as SOAP and RESTful web services, JavaScript frameworks, XML, JSON.

  • Python, R, SQL scripting and ETL tools

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud services; API Management platforms
