Overview:

The Data Analyst is responsible for transforming raw data into reliable insights that drive decision-making across the organization. This role builds and maintains reporting and dashboards, supports KPI governance, performs ad hoc analysis, and improves data quality and documentation. The Data Analyst partners closely with accounting/Finance/FP&A and business stakeholders to define metrics, ensure consistent reporting definitions, and deliver timely, accurate analytics.

What you’d be doing:

Data Quality & Governance

  • Partner with accounting and FP&A teams to understand data sources, improve pipelines, data models, and refresh reliability.
  • Help establish a “single source of truth” / Model Database for KPIs and reporting standards.
  • Monitor data accuracy and completeness; investigate anomalies and recommend fixes.
  • Maintain data dictionaries and contribute to governance processes (access controls, audit trails where required).

Reporting & Dashboards

  • Build and maintain recurring dashboards, reports, and data visualizations (executive, departmental, operational).
  • Develop automated reporting where possible to reduce manual effort and improve timeliness.
  • Translate business questions into clear metrics, visuals, and narratives.
  • Own report documentation (metric definitions, refresh cadence, data sources, and assumptions).

Data Analysis & Insights

  • Perform analyses such as trend analysis, cohort analysis, segmentation, and variance/root-cause analysis.
  • Support forecasting and planning processes with analytical inputs (drivers, seasonality, scenario inputs).
  • Identify emerging risks/opportunities and proactively surface insights to stakeholders.
  • Package findings into concise written summaries and presentation-ready outputs.

Stakeholder Support

  • Serve as an analytics partner to business owners; gather requirements and iterate on solutions.
  • Provide training and enablement for end users on dashboards and self-service analytics tools.
  • Support special projects, audits, and time-sensitive analysis requests.

Success Measures

  • Complete and accurate “single source of truth” / Model Database for KPIs and reporting standards.
  • Produce a prioritized reporting inventory with owners, definitions, and refresh schedules.
  • Improve the accuracy and consistency of top KPIs (agreed definitions and reconciliations).
  • Deliver automated dashboards/reports and reduce manual reporting hours.
  • Establish a repeatable cadence for insight sharing (weekly/monthly performance readouts).

We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 2–5+ years of experience in analytics, reporting, or business intelligence (role-level dependent).
  • Strong SQL proficiency; able to query and validate data independently.
  • Advanced Excel (pivot tables, Power Query preferred).
  • Experience with BI tools such as Power BI and/or Tableau.
  • Ability to communicate findings clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail; strong judgment around data integrity and metric definitions.
  • Exposure to insurance/reinsurance datasets (premium, claims, exposures) if applicable.

  • High integrity; understands sensitivity of financial and confidential data.
