Penn State IT is seeking a strategic, detail-oriented, and thoughtful Business Analyst to join our dynamic team focused on custom application development and web-developed solutions. This role reports to the Business Analysis Manager on the Business Analysis team and is ideal for a meticulous and curious individual with excellent communication, time management, and planning skills who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. In this role, the Business Analyst will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders—including subject matter experts, executives, operational users, and technical staff—to gather, analyze, and document business requirements aligned with defined scope and objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct stakeholder analysis to identify impacted parties, define the level of effort required to deliver effective solutions, and translating business needs into actionable user stories, process flows, and functional specifications.
  • Facilitate requirements elicitation through interviews, document reviews, workshops, surveys, and teleconferences. Work closely with both internal and external clients to ensure user-friendly and accessible interfaces and partner with developers to ensure technical feasibility and alignment with business goals.
  • Facilitate activities such as sprint planning, backlog grooming, and user acceptance testing (UAT), while also performing gap analyses and documenting current and future state business processes. Monitoring project progress, identifying risks, and communicating updates to stakeholders will be key responsibilities, along with supporting post-launch analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experienced business analysis within ERP environments is ideal.
  • A strong understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies (Scrum/Kanban), Salesforce, Informatica, and web technologies is essential.
  • Proficiency in project management tools is expected, along with excellent interpersonal, communication, and critical thinking skills.
  • Experience with requirements writing and technical documentation is required, and familiarity with change control processes and quality assurance testing is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and responsive design principles is a plus, as is a basic understanding of data modeling or SQL.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

Bachelor's Degree 3+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None

SALARY & BENEFITS

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades, is $68,200.00 - $102,300.00.
