DESCRIPTION:
As the Business Analyst – Portfolio Management, you areYou’re a key driver in the Healthcare Market Division’s strategy. You willYou’ll turn market signals and data into the choices that matter: which product categories to prioritize, what to launch or expand upon, and how to win across acute and non‑acute segments. Your dashboards, scenarios, and recommendationsdeveloped dashboards, insights, and recommendations will be used leveraged by portfolio leaders and division leadership in the sstrategic planning and leadership businessprocess. The work you doYou’re work will shift the portfolio mix toward higher‑margin offerings (e.g., Private Label), accelerate third‑party partner growth, and unlock cross‑portfolio synergies through cross-division alignment—directly impacting revenue growth, gross margin, and customer retention.
- Set direction: help sshape the portfolio strategy and portfolio roadmap for the division.
- Support new product introductions by analyzing market fit and forecasting demand.
- Conduct competitive benchmarking to ensure Fisher Scientific’s portfolio remains differentiated and competitive.
- Move the needle: design and measure Focus Initiatives/Sales Blitz programs that create pipelines and lift win rates.
- Executive visibility: present insights that inform decisions on category betsfocus, resource allocation, and product roadmaps.
- Portfolio strategy: size markets (TAM/SAM/SOM), map white space, prioritize categories, and recommend expansion/exit plays tied to ROI.
- Focus Initiatives & Sales Blitz: own hypothesis design, targeting, funnel diagnostics, and scale-up plans to increase follow‑up and conversion.
- Growth business cases: develop scenarios for new offerings, Private Label expansion, and third‑party partners; partner with Finance on pro formas.
- Decision engines: build and maintain executive‑ready Power BI dashboards that drive STRAP, QBRs, and monthly reviews; reduce manual reporting.
- Cross‑functional orchestration:orchestration be the connective tissue across Commercial, Portfolio Management, Finance, and Market Development—turn insights into action with clear owners, OKRs, and timelines.
- Enablement: deliver tools, playbooks, and training for frontline teams (e.g., PL alternatives tables, gap/contract compliance analyses).
- Governance & outcomes: define metrics (e.g., pipeline, win rate, mix, program revenue) and lead a cadence to track, learn, and iterate.
What success looks like (6–12 months)
- A clear portfolio thesis and prioritization model across categories with quantified white‑space opportunities.
- 2–3 Focus Initiatives launched or scaled with measurable lifts in follow‑up rate, pipeline created, and win rate.
- Private Label mix improved in priority categories with a refreshed PL selling toolkit adopted by the field.
- Third‑party program strategy defined; top performers identified for franchised migration with target revenue impact.
- Executive Power BI suite published and adopted; manual reporting hours reduced and data‑to‑decision time accelerated.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Admistration, Finance, Marketing, or science-related fields; advanced degree or professional certification a plus.
- 4+ years of experience spanning business analysis, strategy/operations, or portfolio/product analytics in matrixed organizations; life sciences/healthcare exposure preferred.
- Fluency in problem framing and storytelling: simplify complex analyses into crisp choices and trade‑offs for senior leaders.
- Technical toolkit: advanced Excel; working SQL; BI proficiency (Power BI preferred); familiarity with ERP/finance systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), Office 365, and SharePoint. Experience working with Databricks for data processing, analytics, and visualization a plus.
- Program leadership: demonstrated ability to align cross‑functional stakeholders, set OKRs, and drive execution with a test‑and‑learn mindset.
Growth & Exposure
This role offers day‑to‑day exposure to Portfolio Leadership, Finance, and Commercial leaders through STRAP, QBRs, and initiative reviews. You’ll build a strategic toolkit—market sizing, scenario modeling, commercialization play design—that opens pathways into Portfolio Management, Strategy, or Commercial Operations.
