Manulife

Business Analyst-1

Waterloo, Ontario Full time

We’ve got an amazing team and important digital experiences—and we’re ready for another smart human to join us.

We’re looking for a Business Analyst who likes to understand how things actually work, enjoys digging into data (yes, including SQL), and wants to grow alongside a strong product and delivery team.

This role is hands‑on, close to the product, and close to the people using it. You’ll help keep our Sponsor and Disability Portals running smoothly and make them better over time.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Digging into data and SQL queries to answer questions, investigate issues, and spot patterns.

  • Figuring out what’s really going on when something breaks or doesn’t behave the way we expected.

  • Working with business partners to understand workflows and map out how things work today—and how they should work tomorrow.

  • Turning business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and requirements that dev teams actually love.

  • Supporting day‑to‑day portal work—issues, enhancements, testing, and validation.

  • Partnering closely with Product Owners, developers, and business stakeholders to align on priorities, trade‑offs, and solutions.

  • Asking good questions, challenging assumptions, and helping the team make smart, informed decisions.

Required Qualifications:

  • A few years of experience as a Business Analyst, ideally in digital or tech‑enabled environments.

  • Experience writing user stories, requirements, and acceptance criteria.

  • Practical experience analyzing data and using SQL to get answers.

  • Experience documenting or mapping business processes and workflows.

  • Solid communication skills—you can explain complex things in plain language.

  • A positive, curious, problem‑solving mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Agile / SAFe environments

  • JIRA / Confluence

  • Experience with portals, self‑serve, or insurance/benefits platforms

  • Knowledge of Manulife Group Benefits systems and processes

  • Knowledge of Manulife Group Disability systems and processes

When you join our team:

  • We’ll empower you to learn and grow the career you want.

  • We’ll recognize and support you in a flexible environment where well-being and inclusion are more than just words.

  • As part of our global team, we’ll support you in shaping the future you want to see

The role being advertised is an existing vacancy.
