Now Hiring: Semi-Skilled Lot Attendant

Location: Serving Freeport, Hempstead, BOCES, and Island Park
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Hourly Wage: The hourly wage of $21.21 is set per union contract.

Our Semi-Skilled Lot Attendants support the day-to-day readiness of our fleet by performing essential hands-on maintenance tasks that keep our buses operating safely and efficiently. This is a great role for someone who enjoys mechanical work, problem-solving, and contributing directly to a safe transportation operation for the communities we serve.

What You’ll Do

  • Perform general servicing tasks, including cleaning filters and replacing bulbs

  • Lubricate equipment and assist with basic mechanical functions

  • Remove wheels and tires as needed

  • Perform fluid changes on buses

  • Assist with various maintenance tasks as assigned by supervisors

  • Repair floors, seat backs, coverings, and minor interior components

  • Replace mirrors and selected exterior panels

  • Add or remove decals for fleet appearance and compliance

What You’ll Bring

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • At least 18 years of age

  • Basic hand tools (with the expectation of growing your tool set as training progresses)

  • Willingness to learn and develop mechanical skills

  • Ability to lift up to 65 pounds and work in a maintenance shop environment
