GENERAL STATEMENT OF THE FUNCTION

Works collaboratively with the Associate Director of Student Billing and staff in the maintenance of student financial aid programs with the commitment to quality student service, superior regulatory compliance and enrollment sensitive policies and procedures. This position requires an active role in the day-to-day administration of federal, state, and institutional financial aid funds and services in our effort to attain the best possible financial counseling for the student’s educational goals.

- Requires a strong working knowledge of higher education Account Services practices and the accounting processes in the administration of those practices.
- Requires a strong understanding of the administration of governing regulations in the maintenance of Student Accounts and Accounting functions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically EXCEL worksheets and formulas
- Strong organizational, analytical, planning, and communication skills
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and demanding environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple complex assignments with sensitivity to deadlines, priorities and changing circumstances.
- Demonstrated professional work ethic and positive, problem-solving attitude and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce sound solutions
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree required Business or related area, Master’s preferred,
Minimum five years of experience in Student Account Services and five years of Supervisory experience. Accounting experience preferred and may be considered to supplement education/experience requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Maintain knowledge of diversity-related issues, legislation, and best practices.
- Maintain the accuracy of student tuition & fee charges and oversee the billing process
- Perform standard administrative duties and decision-making authority within standard operating procedures, with some discretion and limited supervision
- Maintain internal controls concerning revenue management operations
- Assist in the continuous development of improvements/automation for students’ accounts
- Provide training and mentorship to all staff with regards to federal, state and institutional student account and accounting procedures.
- Models top level customer service, advisement concerning student account charges
- Participate in policy and procedure development, implementation and evaluation
- Coordinate with faculty and staff as needed to best prepare students for success to include but not limited to student orientations, staff training events, and other events as needed.
- Attend regular training in customer service and student account administration training to develop an increasing understanding for administering and collecting federal, state and institutional aid in the most professional, effective manner.
- Manage all student accounts receivables including student refunds, bad debt, and collections.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by the appropriate authority.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises staff employees with responsibilities related to operational functions within the Account Services department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees.
